I stayed overnight in the Hospital I had a Post Op Upper GI to check the band placement. I have 2 little babies so I was lifting things this last week. The first 6 days after I didn't, but when you have little one's to take care of they don't wait.

I feel a lot better now and I am 10days out, still very soar at the port site, but that is to be expected. I'm just over the soft foods now. It's a hard transistion to adjust to.

Tracy, If I can ask, how big are your kids? I too have a couple of rug rats and I don't know how long I can go without picking up my 18 mo.old. She's somewhere between 25 and 30 lbs. She's in daycare during my working hours, but I cant' go the 6 weeks the doctor says I have to wait to pick up over 20 lbs.

Redmom

I have a 20 month old and a 2 1/2 year old. 6 Weeks........yikes. That's almost like having another baby and waiting for your 6 week check up....lol

My boys are both skinny for their age.........ironic. My older one is not even 30 lbs and my little one at last visit was 26 lbs and a few ounces. With 2 in diapers there is lots of picking up goong on here. They are both in the same size diaper so that should give you an idea, and they are 11 months apart.

Do you have someone to help you? I kinda look at it as we do what we have to do, right? And when we have things to do it's amazing what we will do. When my first son was born he was very sick and Airvaced to a Childrens Hospital 70 miles from my home. Well, they tell you not to drive for 2 weeks after the C-Section.......yeah right. I had a sick baby 70 miles away that I had never even held and I wasn't supposed to drive. NOT. Everyday I was at that Hospital, several days family members drove, but after the first week it was all me. Reember people have their own lives and go back to work etc...

Anyway point being you will know what you can do and work around it. Change diapers on the floor or a bed where your child can climb to. And let her walk as much as possible, I know when Maxi was 18 months he was good about holding hands so try and see if that will help with the less lifting.

All the best to you!

I'm almost 2weeks out and I have 4 children the youngest is 10 months old It took about 3 days before I could pick him up out of the crib to the changing table but that was it!!!! Or I felt to dizzy and worn out...now I can get him and hold him fairly easy but it wears me out if I hold him longer than 10 minutes and I start to hurt......But youll work around it and everyday I feel better and stronger just don't push to hard or you'll be down for the count I learned that the hard way!!

I'm on day 4 post-op. My only issue is a bit of gas rolling around. My stomach looks like a truck rolled over it, but I'm not in pain.

The recovery room nurse told me that patients have all kinds of reactions to the surgery - as Pete said - everyone is different.

The most "pain" I have is from having to drink Endura three times a day. It's to replace electrolytes and magnesium. I have to consume it twice more today, and then I'm done with it when I move to full fluids tomorrow.

Hi everyone! Wednesday is my big surgery day. So exciting! I also have 4 small children. I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter, 2 year old son, and twin 5 1/2 month old sons. My sister and her best friend are coming tomorrow and staying with me until Christmas when we will all go to my mom's. There I will have lots of help. lol I'm so glad they're coming to help because my husband has to work. He took my surgery day off of course, but since he is a teacher he doesn't have many personal days. He does however get out of school on Friday for Christmas break, so it won't be so bad. My doctor told me not to lift the babies for at least 4-6 days after surgery. As for my 2 year old, it will be a while. He' s around 32 lbs. lol Well, good luck to all! :blushing:

Christy

I hope your surgery goes well tomorrow. It's great you will have the help of your family since you sure have your hands full with all those babies. We are very similar in the amount of weight we have to loose so it will be nice to share that journey with you.

Let us know know you are doing, I wish you well through this new adventure.

Tracy

I didn't have much of a problem with the hunger pains. I described the pain like I was hit by a lousville slugger a few times in the stomach. I couldn't stay to far away from the bathroom for a few days afterwards. Took pain meds. not sure if they help alot but they helped. I had a long pre-op. diet so I think that helped with the hunger. Tomorrow I will be able to have my protien shakes again. I still have port pain. I want to caugh to get my lungs clear but that hurts like crazy. But everday gets better.

Hi Tracy and all!

Gotta say this being 2 weeks today Post-Op I am doing great. I weighed myself this morning and I am down another 11.8 lbs this week for a total of 19.2 lbs since surgery.

Just a little soreness still around the port incisions but it's healing up well. Today is my last day of the full liquids and tomorrow I finally get to start mushies!! I've been out walking every day and next week my wife and I are going to step up our walking another notch and go a little farther.

So how is everyone else doing?

Hi all. I'm recovering, but I still have a lot of soreness in my abdominal muscles. The Doctor did the surgery with only one incision and that doesn't bother me at all. Its the muscle on the side of my stomach that really hurts. It's probably because I picked up either a. too much laundry or b. my baby. I think if I can leave her on the floor more, I will recover more quickly. Either way, I'm back to work on Monday. Mushies are going down well and this weekend DH and I are going to buy a treadmill. I've lost all the weight from surgery, so now I'm at my pre-op weight. Good luck to everyone!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
