I had surgery 9 months ago and was on a steady weight loss road. I always lost at least a pound a week ....until about 1 month ago. I can't lose an ounce. I have not changed my eating habits and have been totally discipined about walking and getting on the treadmill. It seems like no matter what I do I am not losing. How frustrating is this.......awhat do I do now?????????? I'm sure there's been a ton of threads about this but I'm just to frustrated to look....H E L P !!!! :wink2:

well u might be in ur plateau. try changing ur eating habits a little...different foods and amounts. incorporate a little more exercise. it happens to everyone on any weight loss journey. be patient...it will pass. then, when i hit mine, u can help me through it! :wink2:

also....r u close to goal? i know the closer u get, the harder it's supposed to be and the slower it comes off. good luck hun!

You are just in a stall/plateau......... pick ONE thing and change it up... either a different exercise or a different diet...... like if you are doing Low Fat, switch to Low Carb or vice/versa.......

I'll chime in with Tracy and Jacole - change something. Up your workout intensity, try a different kind of exercise, make a change in your diet. Perhaps your body has gotten complacent and needs a kickstart.

A change in routine always gets me going again. Do adifferent exercise . . or eat different varieties of food . . or you can raise or lower your calorie intake.

Your body is stalled, it just needs a little kick start to get it moving.

U have hit your plateu. U need to change up your workouts. I ordered p90x and it explains that your body get use to what u are doing in your workouts and you need to confuse it by changes your workouts. Google px90 and read up on it. Hope this helps.

Try adding intervals to your workout routine - 60 second long bursts of SUPER intense work like sprinting (depending on your level of fitness) where you max out your heart rate, then recover for 2 minutes, then do it again, perhaps five times over, throw in 5 minutes of steady state and then perhaps a couple of intervals where you up the incline to 8 or 9 and pick up the speed a little bit, so its like 3/4 of the intensity of the sprint intervals etc etc. If you do this and get off the treadmill ready to barf (lol) you're probably going to see a sudden drop in your weight.

It even works for those of us on 18 month long plateaus! Its hard to lose any when you're already a healthy weight but this really works for me.

Check out www.cardiocoach.com - MP3 download interval probrams, they're only $14 or so and they really intenstify your cardio and make it fun, tell you what you should be doing etc. And your treadmill probably has some good programs too. Try them out.

Steady state cardio is great for you, fantastic for your health and enjoyable once you become fit. You should continue it. But to keep weight loss really going, you need to add in some harder stuff.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
