Gas-x, Gas-x, Gas-x

Recommended Posts

Just banded 12/10. Surgery wasn't too bad but first day out was terribly painful. Not the incisions, but the gas pains were killing me. My stomach was bloated so big. Nothing I did could make me comfortable, no amount of walking, laying down, sitting. Pain meds didn't touch the gas pain. Finally dh got me so gas - x and I felt a hundred times better. For those waiting, I know on here it has been mentioned don't forget your socks, chapstick, take off your jewelry, well I am adding, make sure you stock up on gas - x. :wink2:

we have the banding date! my surgeon actually gave me a 3 ring binder with everything in it and it suggested gas-x. I don't have any problems with my stomach, its all in my left shoulder. but the gas-x disolvable strips are a must!

I went for pre-op testing last week and that's one thing they stressed...Gas-X and Gas-X strps. Said to bring the strips on surgery day and use them in recovery! Needless to say, whenI saw that Walgreens has Gas-X on sale today, I went out and got my a supply.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
