kdaniels11604 0 Posted December 12, 2008 I was reading an article about Rikki Lake in people magazine, and it made me so mad!!!! She said she lost all her weight the "hard" way, no surgery!!! well, I just want to say that this is the hardest thing I have ever done!!!! I exercize 5 days a week and I stick to the very strict diet that I got from my nutritionist. I really think that people think we're just sitting around waiting for the weight to fall off because we had surgery!!!!:wink2:
lapbandtalker 0 Posted December 12, 2008 Don't be mad. I'm on the flip side. What was hard for me dieting and exercising til the cows came home was that it didn't work for me. Lapband was the easiest thing I've ever done and the easiest weightloss. I did have that mentality of getting the band and then sitting back - well, not really. It was a grueling process but I relied on the band to do what the makers promised. And it worked. So don't be too mad at people. Some find exercise/dieting easy and not hard. And some find surgery easy and not hard.
Jodi_620 37 Posted December 12, 2008 I just read that same article just yesterday. That line kind of ate at me too.

kgloverii 0 Posted December 12, 2008 I like the easy way of not having to fight my urge to eat, and not having compulsive food thoughts 24/7. I lost weight the 'hard' way too. I lost it all, and had to work out 3 hours EVERY DAY to keep it off. And I was ALWAYS hungry, even in my 'skinny' state. I don't have that hunger anymore... I am not planning my next meal. I'm happy with my 'easy way.'
Carrie_C 9 Posted December 12, 2008 I agree, if this is the "easy" way, I"ll take it over feeling starved all the time.

HeatherO 7 Posted December 12, 2008 None of it is easy. However, banding was a lot easier for me than not be banded. Before banding I was HUNGRRRYYYYYY . . . now I am maybe or maybe not a little hungry, what???, is it an hour past lunch time and I forgot to eat??? food is no longer my obsession. Obsessions are never easy to break without a little assistance. Some of it was head hunger but a lot of it was just physical hunger. She can keep on doing it the hard way if she chooses . . . but I love my band!!!!
jfc193 718 Posted December 13, 2008 I always seemed to do well for at least 4 to 6 months on a diet and then I would not lose any more weight and I go on an impressive eating spree that would last 4 to six month and I would gain all the weight back and more. With the lap band even when I reach plateau's I still can not go back to my old eating patterns. I did go of the eating plan for a while do to a change in job, and city and my oldest move in with his family of 5. Even with all that I only gain back 20 lbs instead of 70 lbs. I need the lap band because it helps me to stay focus. It is still not easy especially during the holidays when there so much good stuff around.
Carrie_C 9 Posted December 13, 2008 I used to do the same thing: lose a lot of weight and then go on binges that would last months and regain it all plus more. I find myself even trying to do that now. But thankfully my band won't let me binge eat anymore. I used to binge on carbs, bread and fast food. It's funny because those are the very foods that my band can't tolerate.
annieM 2 Posted December 18, 2008 Losing the hard way, bah. Losing weight is always hard, with the band or without. Regaining is the easy part and that is what the band helps me with the most. People who make those uninformed comments are doing the public no favors.
stevegoad 32 Posted December 18, 2008 Well, the way I see it, Ricki Lake was never one of my top 2,000,000 most admired people anyway, and I was never on hers. So her opinion doesn't matter.
