meg0880 0 Posted December 11, 2008 Ok so I did something stupid yesterday and ate one of those sticky, chewy, surgary orange slice things and part of it got stuck. I thought last night I got it all up but I'm having a horrible time getting things to stay down. Little bits of Water will stay down and right now I'm afraid to eat anything for fear it'll come back up! Will the stuck food go down on it's own or will I need to be seen for this? I know, VERY stupid and I'll never eat those darn things again!!!!!.. Thanks! Megan
Jodi_620 37 Posted December 11, 2008 Try drinking something acidic to see if you can break it down. pineapple juice might do it.
AnnieMae 0 Posted December 11, 2008 As silly as this sounds, I wish I would get something stuck or have a PB. While I have lost 22 pounds, it has been simply sheer willpower after the first week post op. I have 3ccs out of a possible 10ccs in my Realize band and I cannot tell I even have a band. However, I am sorry you are having a problem.
SuzanneG 1 Posted December 11, 2008 Megan, You're probably swollen from the PB. Put yourself on liquids for 2 days and then start back slowly with mushies. Anne, Call your doctor, you need another fill. :-D
AnnieMae 0 Posted December 11, 2008 Hi Suzanne. I tried getting in to see my doctor sooner but no luck. I had my surgery Sept 30, my first fill November 10, and hopefully another fill but not until Dec 22! When I see him Dec 22 I am going to ask for a sooner return visit. If I don't need it fine, if I do need it I won't have to wait another 6 weeks.! What is the usual time frame between fills? TY
meg0880 0 Posted December 11, 2008 Suzanne, I thought I was swollen from the PB but I guess I needed reassurance there wans't something wrong I couldn't fix! I just managed to keep down about 2 ounces of orange juice so maybe that's a sign of good things to come! Thanks! And Anne, yes you need another fill. Mine was all willpower too until he got to about 4.5 cc's and then after that I was getting full. I'm at my sweet spot right now with 6.8cc and I am losing a steady 11-13 pounds a month!!! You'll get there, I promise!!!!!
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted December 11, 2008 I just wanted to add...DONT FEEL STUPID! Goodness we need to "test" our bands some. If you don't, how will you know what you can and cannot eat? I agree that we aren't really "supposed" to eat candy, but you are human. You are over 6 months' post op. That you tried it isn't a bad thing!
kgloverii 0 Posted December 11, 2008 You are SO not stupid. I STILL get stuff stuck and am over a year post op! Try the yoga position 'downward dog' if you get something stuck. Works like a charm for me!
meg0880 0 Posted December 11, 2008 Katy- Thank you! I will try that tonight when I get home. And oh my gosh, you are only EIGHT pounds from your goal weight!! That is awesome!! I can't wait to be there...
SuzanneG 1 Posted December 11, 2008 Anne, time between fills varies drastically from doctor to doctor. My doctor says call right back, don't wait any longer than you have to. He told me to come back as much as I needed to until I felt I was in a good place. I've read on here where other docs make patients wait forever between fills. Hang in there, the 22nd will get here before you know it. Just think about all the Christmas stuff you need to do and time will fly by. LOL Meg, I'm glad things are improving for you. Stick to your protien shakes a for a day or so and then slowly try to reintroduce foods.
