December 23rd Band Date

Recommended Posts

Of course anyone can post here but I thought it would be cool to start a thread for my band date buddies.

I'm so excited. I start my liquid pre op diet 2 days before surgery and tomorrow I get my pre op blood work done.

I've been testing different Protein Shakes and of course charting what I've been eating for the past month. Plus I'm on the end stage of stopping smoking and the doc said no hormone pills 2 weeks prior to surgery.

So as you can guess I'm pretty gritchy. I think I'm going to ask for something to take the edge off because if not I might run all my friends away, drive my girlfriend nuts and kill my pets. Going through early menapause (at 35) put me on hormones to level things out.

Anyway, I've decided to try a strawberry Protein powder with strawberry yogurt this morning. I did a chocolate one with SF Chocolate pudding and it was most yummy.

Guess I'm rambling on.

Tomorrow is the B Day! I'm scared and nervous and way excited. My doc only requires 2 days liquid diet but mine started on the day of a family holiday party.

There was tons of good smelling food but I stuck to it. Everyone there is very excited for me and offered me tons of support.

And I finally found a Trader Joe's! Cool store, much like Whole Foods. I stocked up on stuff and *big nervous sigh* I'm ready to go.

Good Luck to all who are being banded today and this week!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
