Does it bother anyone to sleep on their stomach with their port?

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I couldn't sleep on my stomach BEFORE (big tits and big tummy!). I can sleep on my stomach now just fine.

boy I am so glad my port is where it is- in the middle- a few inches below my clevage area

I would go crazy if it were off to the side- there should be on a checklist of good questions to ask your dr. before you get this surgery done!

p.s. lulu- you look so awesome- you are exactly where I want and need to be! I posted in the excersice forum asking about the heart rate monitor strap and the port- maybe you would know since you workout a lot?

Mine is about two inches above and to the left of my belly button. And I don't feel it at all. I was thinking on the same line as Lacey. I have about 28 more pounds to go to reach goal and I swear most of that is in my stomach, so I still have some padding there. Maybe those that are having difficulty have lost most of the weight in the area of the port thus lost padding (?).

Kacee,

The large chest and tummy is what trained me to sleep on my stomach. I couldn't handle that weight bearing on my chest when I was on my back and if I was on my side too long it made my back hurt.

thanks just banded,

i had barely any belly fat when i was banded (pear shaped - carried majority in hip/thigh/butt) and i had a lot of port pain once i woke up from surgery. my surgeon told me that he had to stitch it to a lot of muscle because of that. i waited close to 6 months post of to do any ab exercises - just for that reason.

i saw your post on the heart monitor. i haven't used one, so i didn't respond....but i will say this. my port after surgery was right above my belly button on the left side. after losing weight is has moved up to right under where my sports bra hits about 3 inches. it's intact (had it checked twice) - i just would really love it in some other spot. i plan on having that discussion monday w/my surgeon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
