mroseharvey 0 Posted December 11, 2008 I am new and I wanted to share a little about my story I have been overweight most of my life I have a BMI of 35.6. I went through all the pre-op testing and my doctor submitted everything to my insurance. Well today I found out they denied me "not medically necessary". I guess I am not sick enough or heavy enough for them. Well they have no idea about the pain I have in my feet and ankles. I also have high cholesterol and arthritis. Well I cried most of the day today because my isurance denied me. Thank god I am married to a man that adores me and he hates to see me in pain everyday and he especially hates to see me cry. We called my doctors office and we worked out a cash pay and I am scheduled for surgery on Monday 12/15/08. Wish me luck.
*susan* 1,709 Posted December 11, 2008 Hi there and welcome. Insurance companies seem to look for anyway possible to deny people. Back when I had my band, they didn't even cover it at all. So, like you, my wonderful hubby wanted to see me healthy and knew how unhappy I was. So, we refinanced our house to cover the cost of the surgery and have never regretted it. I am so pleased you were able to work out a payment plan. Let us know how everything goes on Monday.
