Recommended Posts

I am starting to believe my family when they say that I am Bulimic. I am throwing up almost after everymeal. There are times I don' t get sick at all and other times that it is all that I do.I also am coughing alot and am finding myself cough and almost getting sick in my sleep. Has anyone had this problem in the past are know of anyone who has and what have they done to rectify these problems. I would appreciate anyones help. Oh, bu the way I had my surgery 11/15/2007 and have lost 95 lbs.

Thanks

Hello Doreen: So sorry you are going through this and congrats on all your weight loss.

When was your last fill? It sounds like your fill is to tight and you need to call the doctor for a consult. I hope you get better soon

I thought I might be too tight after my last fill on Monday, and when I called the dr's office the nurse said as long as I wasn't coughing during the night, throwing up, or had acid reflux AND I could get a little liquid down that I would should be okay. I thought the coughing comment sounded strange as having to do with being too tight, but what your sysmptoms are does indeed sound like you might be too tight and need an unfill. Whatever the case, it doesn't sound normal and I would call your dr. immediatley. I don't mean to scare you but that is what your dr. gets paid the big bucks for. Good luck and I hope you'll be better soon.

I had the same problem for 1 week after i got my band tightened--i couldn't even eat 3 teaspoons of oatmeal without vomiting!!! The hiccups were really bad too!! I went back to surgeon and he took 1/2 cc back out and my problem was solved instantly... Good luck....

Your band is too tight. If you are having night coughs and you are throwing up after every meal you need to call your dr and have some Fluid taken out of the band. The more you throw up the more your stomach will swell and you will then throw up more. I'm tight right now as well. Not that tight but still need to only eat soft foods. In the morning I know I can only drink Breakfast. lunch is iffy. dinner sometimes I can eat more solid food. sometimes not!! I know it can be frustrating but in the end....it will be worth it. RIGHT???? I hope so!!!

I am going through something very similar. I don't cough in my sleep but I throw up all the time and my acid reflux is causing me extreme pain. I've been putting up with it for three weeks now since my last fill. I am scheduled tomorrow morning for an unfill because I can't deal with this pain anymore. The only positive thing is that I lost 16lbs in three weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
