9 cc's in a 10 cc band

Recommended Posts

I am not feeling restriction. What happens when you get to 10cc's. Has anyone else had this happen. I keep thinking with every fill (at $1100/fill) that this one will do the trick. I will have a 1 year anniversary for my surgery in Jan 09. I have lost weight, but can still eat alot. Do people have to have them replaced?

Pre-band but I just want to clarify...$1100 per fill...can't be!...typo? Also, I've seen others on here with a high fill like yours, but they have good restriction by your point. Does your Dr. take all the saline out before they add your fill (to check for leaks)? Have you ever had restriction? Someone will be along who's been there...

I would think you would have restriction too. My fills are $275, but covered so far.. I have heard even though the band is a certain size, it can hold much more. Good luck. Talk to your dr. About having no restriction with 9cc.

Depends on what size band. I have 14 cc's so 9 cc's wouldn't be THAT drastic for me. Also I agree, if you're paying $1100 a fill, you need to look around for cheaper fills!

OK DUH I just re-read the thread title and see you are in a 10 cc band. SO I agree; do they count what's in your tubing? 1 cc isn't much....as a guideline, a teaspoon is 5-6 cc's. Otherwise if you don't have restriction, either your pouch is really stretched, or your band is leaking. I think you should discuss with your surgeon! Good luck!

Your tubing holds about 2 cc's also, so I'd wonder if those 2 are being counted in the 9 total. I'm curious if the $1100 a fill is a typo also - mine are 100% covered by my insurance, but my doc bills $500 and my insurance pays about $220.

My first fill cost 743.00, 2nd cost 900 somthing and now we are over $1000.00. It is done at the hospital under flouroscopy. Yes insurance has paid but man that is expensive.

The Dr. does take all the Fluid out before he adds more, no leakage. I have follow up with him on Thursday.

I just want to be like the others out there with good restriction. I know I'll get there, but it is a long wait.

Thanks for replying.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
