Little Frustrated and Scared!

Recommended Posts

Hi just got my lapband on 11/21/08 and I feel as if I had nothing. As a matter of fact I am already eating solid foods without any restrictions - more so testing myself. I realize I shouldn't do that but is it just because my band is empty? Has anyone felt like this at the beginning - I feel really good, surgery went great, and I am healing wonderfully but as far as my stomach it's like it was before surgery unrestricted!!

Hello There,

I am cin530 and was banded on 11/05 and felt the same way. Matter of fact i thought that i had made a big mistake on the lapband instead of gastric. But

i started reading more about the first few months of lapband

and started feeling better. I guess maybe after the first fill

things will be different i hope. I lost 15 lbs the first 2 weeks

after surgury and i have not lost since but i have not gained

either so i guess that is good. Just hang in there and tell your doctor how you feel. I hope things get better for the

both of us and we see results soon. Good luck:thumbup:

Hi all,

I was banded Nov. 14th and I have no real significant restriction, but my doctor told me that would be the case. He told me I could basically eat anything I want (as long as I chew well and take small bites), but encouraged me to follow my dieticians recommendations.

I have the REALIZE band and my doctor said that REALIZE bandsters tend to lose slower than LAPBANDsters, so I have basically embraced the idea that I am going to lose slowly.

Yes, we will be overweight longer, BUT we risk less problems with overfillings, saggy skin, malnutrition, hair loss, PB's, etc., and any other problems that come along with being either banded too tight or being banded too tight too quickly where new bandster habits haven't been solidly formed.

Just enjoy the slow progression of success...And you are succeeding, because you have lost weight since the band. As for me, I don't know how to update my little ticker thing, but I have only list 5 pounds after surgery and I have not gained. I am chewing, chewing, chewing, and taking smaller bites, so I get satisfied A LOT faster than before the band.

I'm really glad I got my band, because I am sooooo hopeful. I know that I am losing slow and I know that I will CONTINUE to lose.

Good luck to us all!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
