lharrington 0 Posted December 8, 2008 Hi, I am Linda Harrington I was banded on 11/6/2008. So far I have lost 20 lbs. I was 185 when I went for my pre-op and I am now 165. I was originally 190 lbs but my insurance made me lose some for a six month period and I was at 185 when I actually had the surgery. I am 5'1", 61 yrs old and "was" diabetic. I have gone from over 60 units of insulin per day and 4 metformin tablets at 500 mg each to 0-4 units of insulin and 1 metformin in the AM. My surgeon was Dr. Ken Hollis in Houston TX at True Results. The surgery was actually done at Memorial Hermann in Houston. I am really happy with my surgery and I am so glad I had it done especially for the diabetes. My daughter is getting married 6/20/2009 so I hope I am in really good shape by then. Since it is so soon after my surgery, I am walking 2-3 times per week and also doing pilates for toning. I hope I get rid of the flab on my arms. The rest I can hide under my clothes. My greatest concern is eating too much or the wrong thing and messing up what I have accomplished so far. Does anyone have any good lap band safe recipes. I am getting tired of eating everything the same way.
debrser 0 Posted December 9, 2008 Congratulations, that's great! When I was reading your blog I thought why would you even have lapband doesn't seem you were to heavy to begin with but having diabetes I guess was the decisive factor for you. I just got mine 11/21/08 I am 45 years old and was weighing 275 I've lost 12 lbs since - which I don't consider much but I am not following through as I should I haven't had a fill yet and it seems like I don't even have a Lapband. A little frustrated right now. Did you feel like that?
