Dr. Pedro Kuri and Hospital Angeles (Tijuana Mexico)

Recommended Posts

I just arrived home last night after having surgery in Tijuana Mexico performed by Dr. Pedro Kuri at Hospital Angeles. I have to say this was top notch care. Hospital Angeles was very clean and felt more like a hotel then a hospital. Even while there the hospital had staff constantly cleaning. The hospital staff was all very nice, polite, and very tentive to my needs. Most of the staff didn't speak very much english but that was ok because there usually was another staff person around that could translate. Dr. Kuri was exceptional. His bedside maner was very friendly and even joked with us at times. He really did a good job of putting myself and the others there for their surgeries at rest about what we were about to go through. I would recommend anyone considering going to Mexico for surgery to seriously consider Dr. Kuri for their LapBand.

I also had my surgery done by Dr. Kuri in Tijuana (Dec 2006). I had a great experience, as you said, the hospital was very nice, the staff very attentive and Dr. Kuri was great. The only drawback for me is not being able to readily go back there as I live on the east coast. I have a dr within a 2 hour drive to do my fills so that has worked out ok...just expensive. I am at 62 lbs lost with only 20 left to go. I have been slow to get fills (sometimes waiting many months before going) but I'm still pleased with the results. Good luck to you!

Best of luck with your surgery Carol! Brush up on your spanish a little. It will help in going down there. Also the night before your surgery when you get to go out for your last meal go over to the Mexican place across the street. Good food. Of course you can hit up the TGI Fridays right across the street too but hey you will be in Mexico! LOL

I am being banded by Dr. Kuri on 1/20/09 and he came highly recommended by some of my family members. It is good to know that others think so highly of him as well.

He is a great choice for your surgery. My surgery went very well and I was back to work in no time. I am doing very well with everything and continue to lose weight! Best of luck to you!

Thanks Florida Pete. I did a lot of research on my own but it sure helps that people I know have dealt with the same doctor.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
