Now I know what it feels like to need a fill!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Not sure what happened this weekend but my what a difference. I had my 1 month post op last Friday and everything was perfectly fine. She told me that even though my first fill isn't until January 8th,if I feel the need to have the fill done sooner to call. Well not sure why or how this happened but by Saturday I noticed a big difference in my appetite and Sudnay ,I noticed I was looking for more food and I had hardly ANY restriction . I guess this is a major sign ,eh ?

I felt discouraged (again) when I stepped on the scale this morning and it went up a pound and a half and i'm SURE it's because of this weekend. UGH!

I am right there with you. I do not get my first fill until January 7th and i really do not have any restriction. Basically I am forcing myself to do it , that is the only way for me.

It is hard with the holidays approaching and all the emphasis being on food but we all need to stick together and do it together.

Don't get discouraged, keep your head up.

Good luck sweetie!

Yep, I am there too. This weekend I was hungry. I mean really hungry, so I had to keep myself distracted. My 4 week post op is 12/10/08, so I am to graduate to real food. The doctor will give me a fill before Christmas, but I would prefer to have it on 12/10/08.

I go throught the same thing with the sclae, I get obsessive. If I weigh my self , I will continue to do so and a jump of anything drives me nuts. Just remember your still healing and it is still very early. January is right around the corner.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
