Tips for getting back on the wagon?

Recommended Posts

Hi all -

I had band surgery 1 year and 6 months ago. I did fabulously during my first year. I lost 62 pounds in total. I began to have some issues with my band, including severe nausea. They emptied my band completely and in the process, I changed jobs. My new insurance does not cover doctors visits, so I have not gone back yet to get it filled ($250.00 a visit). I've gained back 20 pounds in the past 6-8 months. I haven't been eating correctly, not exercising, and had gone back to drinking 2 20 oz bottles of pepsi a day.

In a commitment to change, I've stopped drinking soda (been 8 days now!) and am joining Curves. I'm just wondering if anyone has tips for eating and getting back on the wagon. I still have 60 pounds left to lose and feel stalled. I haven't found a lot of support around here because all of my cohorts went with the option of gastic bypass and have lost all of their weight.

Thanks for letting me ramble!

I have found all the way through that having my focus and challenge centred around my running was key. There's always a race to train for and i've been able to increase distances, when you've done all the common 5k, 10k, half marathon distances, then you compete to better your time. Being even 2lb heavier affects your time. Having a new running challenge always gets me back on the straight and narrow - espcially with a view towards being properly fueled for it, which for me means a rather higher carb diet than most bandsters eat.

if I just focussed on what I have to not eat, this would just be another diet. I find it very hard to get back on the wagon once i've fallen off unless I"m wanting to achieve something as a result of getting back on it, if that makes sense.

Hi Georgifisher, I have just logged back into lapbandtalk.com for the first time in a long time in a bid to get back on the bandwagon I jumped off during christmas time! As a low BMI bandster to begin with ( initial goal of 45lb loss) I steadily lost 22lbs in 10 months (with a 2 month gap in the middle)- but over christmas I have completely lost the drive, gone wild on food and put on atleast 8lbs. I'm lost- but I have a will to find the drive again. I have a fill booked and my only concern is the embaressment when I see my doc! You have a will too- and you have made the first step to change- the biggest step. I know you can do it- keep looking for support (I have found people like jachut invaluable!) and I hope you find the strength you need to succeed.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
