Hi Terilynn, I am also a September Samurai (9/4/08). I learned that when I eat so much (or don't chew enough) that it hurts then DO NOT DRINK! I was hoping if I drank a little it would help the food to slide down through the band but the opposite happened. The liquid just sat on top of the food and I had to throw it up to get any relief. This happened twice so I will make sure that it doesn't happen a third time. Good luck to you!

Drinking doesn't help if you are too full. It gets stuck behind the food and might even cause you to vomit.

Also, you have to go by "feel" and part of the banding experience is relearning your bodies signals as far as being full or not full. Measuring is a good baseline to avoid overeating . . . however, it it is starting to feel a little uncomfortable you should definitely stop eating even if you have not eaten your premeasured amount.

If you give it a little time, you should feel better soon.

I walked around (literally) my house about 6 times in 20 degree weather, and finally felt better.... and burned God knows how many calories. The first two laps were a jog type speed. The end was dragging my feet speed. I live in a 14X74 feet trailer, with a garage right behind me (1 1/2 car) so I walked quite a bit.

I feel fine this morning.

Thanks

teri

I measure my food as well, but I stop eating when I am full. I really pay attention to signals and give myself time to eat. There are times that I have some left over food, which I measured.

I normally would have stopped eating, but my kids were fighting, and I was distracted. I screwed up. I know that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
