Soooo Freakin' Gross!

Recommended Posts

Ok. My fault totally. Not the band. I love my band. :cool2:

I got in a hurry eating and got stuck . I did not panic as I have read that it does not good. I simply went to the bathroom and carefully concentrated on not throwing up.

HOWEVER, the whole sliming process and working a bit of what was stuck up was nasty . Took a long time to be able to get a drink in and it stay down (about 4-5 hours). I was just patient and calm and grossed out and got through it.

I am not eating slowly and paying attention. All of this on mushies! Dear Lord, help me when I move to solids . Anyway, the band definately has my respect and full attention now and I am being very careful about eating slowly and even chewing the dickens out of my mushies.

Hi sistasassy: This is my worse nightmare. It has not happen to me yet. But, when I let myself get really hungry, I forget to slow down. Then I feel the restriction.

I try to catch the hunger before I get way to ravenous.

I too had this experience the other day. Totally scary, but it let me know that my band was really working. lol

I am a little nervous for those experiences where you learn what you can eat and what you cannot.

Sliming or pb'ing feels like a fist has hit you in the middle of your chest. Very painful! I've only done it once and that was enough for me. I make sure to stop eating as soon as i feel the least bit full. During sliming your mouth feels with saliva and its just out of control. Don't want to gross you out but its really just pain and a lot of spitting. This went on for me for over an hour. I guess it was good to experience it b/c now i don't overeat. Good luck

Sliming is rather gross. Your mouth produces a large amt of thick slimy saliva, it's your body's way of producing some lubricant to get that thing we ate dislodged. It has happened to me several times. It only happens when we forget to eat like a bandster and revert to old ways. My kids have seen me in this situation, it hurts to swallow, so I have to spit it out, and it is so thick you can't "cut it", have some good paper towels on hand if this ever happens. Or a disposable cup! Happened to me in the car with 1 bite of french fry, which I thought I chewed well!

Wow Beth! That description was very accurate - gross - but very accurate!

Yep sistasassy, our bands remind us quickly when we make a significant mistake. It's all part of the learning process though.

I read on another post that when you start pb'ing to do the yoga position downward dog and that is supposed to help. I slimed once and didnt know about that yet. I'm intending t try it if and when it happens again.

Beth got it right. Had my first experience with it last week and what a horrible experience. If you are wondering "if" you've experienced it or are wondering "if" you will know, don't. You will know it! And you will not be wondering if it happened. I say this only because I thought once that I had experienced it and could not figure out what the big deal was. Now I know. I have now learned my lesson. Chew, chew, chew, and then chew some more.

I didn't have any issue with any foods till my 3rd fill. Suddenly scrambled eggs made me want to tear open my chest (after 2 bites). Now, solid food in the morning is out of the question and if the bread isn't toasted and really thing forget it. Even then it's not worth it. The only REALLY major sliming was the same experience in the car with 1 curly fry and a bite of a sandwich....It came right up and into the bag. SO GROSS. I think of it as my band slapping me in the face for daring to put that crap in my mouth.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
