littlefroggy 0 Posted December 7, 2008 Yuck! I have cramps and took 3 advil. Now my stomach is killing me!!! Am I not supposed to take advil? I am tighter than every before. this is going to suck, as I have to take advil due to severe menstrual cramps. What should I do instead? Do you have this problem? (I mean the stomach ache!) Brandy~ 2 Posted December 7, 2008 My doctor said we could take any of the pain relievers. Maybe you took it on an empty stomach?
kmytime2008 0 Posted December 7, 2008 i am not suppose to take anything with aspirin. it can upset your stomach and irritate your band. i use liquid extra strength tylenol. hope you feel better.
LSF 264 Posted December 7, 2008 I think you might have overdone it with 3 pills.< /p>
*slim* 2 Posted December 7, 2008 If you are tighter than normal and took 3 pills, they could be stuck or have just irritated the stoma. My doc allows advil (prefers liquid and flushed with water) on a limited basis. If your doctor never said no advil, then he/she may allow it. Most doctors say no advil period. My doc said as long as it's not everyday and is flushed through the stoma after taking, that it was ok. I hope that you feel better soon. Also, check with your doctor about his/her guidelines for advil.
MustangGirlRN 0 Posted December 7, 2008 If you're able to take pills, make sure you space them out a bit. They can be irritating to your stomach, so it would probably help to take them with a little something in there to act as a buffer. liquid ibuprofen, although very sweet, doesn't taste too bad either and you may want to try that instead of the pills. 600 mg advil, (or three pills) is a perfectly safe adult dose if ok'd with your physician, in fact, we frequently prescribe up to 800 mg for adult sized people, (I work in pediatrics). Of course, follow your physician's instructions, maybe give the office a call on Monday for their suggestions. Good luck, ibuprofen is my favorite choice for cramps too! BigMomma1981 0 Posted December 7, 2008 My Doc said nothing with an anti-inflammatory in it. Im not sure why but only tylenol and no asprin unless taking the baby asprin one a day. Good luck
smile4me_37 0 Posted December 7, 2008 Advil is in the same category as the othe anti-inflamatory drugs which my doctor told me would cause stomach upset and problems with the:eek: band so it probably would be a good idea just to stick with tylenol or ask if anything else they can prescribe. gentylwind 1 Posted December 8, 2008 Anti-inflammatories and aspirin are believed to cause a higher risk of band erosion. I am forbidden pain relievers oher than tylenol. No Advil, no aspirin, no Aleve etc.
