Asparagus RollUps

Recommended Posts

Totally band friendly and totally good.

I just tried a new recipe and tweaked it to make it a little more proteinish, more healthy, and it was SO good, so I thought I would share.

I took asparagus and cooked them for 6 minutes in a frying pan with a little bit of Water.< /p>

Then I took one package of low fat cream cheese (philadelphia of course) and cut up fresh chives (about 2 tablespoons for a whole package of cream cheese) mixed them together. I then had several slices up sandwich ham from the deli.

I took one slice of ham and laid it down, put two dollops of cream cheese on top, put the asparagus (now cooked a little, but still crispy) and put it on top of the cream cheese) and then rolled them up. They looked cute and were very tasty! The original recipe calls for bread and parmesan cheese, but I'm opting for no bread and less cheese. I'm going to serve these at a Caroling party I'm having tomorrow. I hope they're a hit!

That sounds very yummy! Thats how I make sandwiches now since I don't eat bread. I just never thought to put an asparagus in it. I will have to try it. I bet the chives give it a little tang too.

I just served these at a party, and they were all gobbled up. Even people who avoid vegetables! I'm glad they were good. The chives do seem to give it the necessary kick.

this might be a dumb question but here goes: do you heat the ham or do you serve them cold?

Asparagus...really?? I thought that was going to be on my no-no list post-band (because it's so stringy). Good to hear...I'm adding to my file of recipes now...we eat asparagus about once a week now. Thanks!

The ham is cold. I get it sliced at the deli so it's a little thicker.

Asparagus normally is on my no no list due to the stringy-ness, however, when you put it in a pan with a little Water and cook for 6 minutes, it still has it's crispness and seems to go down just fine for me. Just don't cook it too long. When it's really soft and mushy like it gets stringy.

This sounds great, but I can't eat any part of asparagus other than the flower tip. Like you said, too stringy. I chew the stalk up and end up spitting the remains out, so it is definitely not a party food for me!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
