drinking???

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was band in last september, I've had no problem yet with my band. Tonight I had a party, and I drank 3 cosmopolitain in a 5 hour period. I just got home and my stomach kind of hurt, it just feel weird. Im not feeling like vomiting, just a disconfort in my stomach. I know we have to avoid beer and drinks with carbonate Water, but what about wine or alcool?

Thanks for your answer

Julie

I was told wine was fine. Maybe because you hadn't had a drink in awhile, it was your body's reaction to the alcohol.

I was just banded on Dec 4 and was told to avoid alcohol for about a year. I hope that is truly not the final answer but if it is then that's cool with me because I don't drink often anyway. Hope you feel better soon.

Did you have any food in your tummy, before you had three drinks? No food and alcohol don't mix well.

Thanks for you answer, Im feeling alot better. I woke up this morning without the weird feeling I had in my stomach last night, only a small hangover  My body is probably not use to alcool since Im not a big drinker, but I'll be more carefull next time.

Thanks again.

Julie

Carbonation should be avoided. I don't think the Cosmopolitan's would hurt you at all as far as digestion or the band is concerned.

The biggest reason to avoid alcohol (other than the carbonated varieties which must be avoided) is because a lot of us became obese due to food addictions, emotional eating, etc. Anyone who suffers from any kind of addiction can be predisposed to switching addictions when the usual choice is no longer available to us.

Also, some mixed drinks are swimming in excess calories. I am not a drinker, but I had a little virgin eggnog over Thanksgiving and found that a tiny half cup stores a whopping 300+ calories. That half cup was yummy but I am afraid to buy any now, lol.

I found some "Soy Nog". It takes just like Egg Nog, but of course it is not as thick. I usually only drink about 1/2 a cup. It satisfies my "want" for egg nog. I am (was) a beer drinker. Since I have quit, I feel so much better, not just because I am losing weight, but I don't feel bad the next morning. I am still losing, so I think I will just stay away from alcohol all together. It is hard this time a year when everyone else is drinking. But I can do it. We need to remember our goals.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
