How much are you fills? Does any ins. cover them?

Recommended Posts

My ins. will cover for my fills up to three months after surgery. After that they will start to charge me $250.00 DLLS. WTF?!?! How much are yours. And how long will the ins. cover it for?

I'm wondering...once you feel comfortable with the amount in your lapband, how long does the fill last? Will it evaporate, dissolve, etc? Also, how do you know when you need a fill? I used to not be able to eat more than a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food and now I can eat as much as a normal small eater.

I have 6 free fills in the first year with my surgery cost. AFter that he will bill my insurance for an office visit and I will pay a $25 co-pay and that's it.

I have a question about fills. What is the procedure for that day? Can you eat before? Can you drink before? Is it like surgery, nothing after midnight the night before? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I was self pay, my insurance will cover nothing having to do with weight control. It's not the insurance company though, it's the company I work for. They chose to not have any of that type of coverage offered to us. I got fills free for 90 days, then $150 after that. I checked into going elsewhere for fills, somewhere closer to home, but they were $300. Do I want to drive 3 hours and pay $150, or drive 45 min and pay 300? I chose to stick with my surgeon and make the drive to Detroit.

I generally do not eat before my fill. If it is in the afternoon I will stay on liquids before so that there is no food in the pouch. After the fill my doctor has me on liquids for two days and then mushies for two days followed by regular food. :smile2: I hope that helps! smile_rvmp_by_bad_blood.gif

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
