waiting, struggling to maintain..

Recommended Posts

Over the past 6 months I have made some serious adjustments to my mind and health, but the waiting for the surgeon appointment with no contact from anyone and no one to be accountable to is really difficult. I am definately eating less, and have not gone over 1500 cals. in a day for 5 weeks. I am drinking Protein Shake with skim milk and a banana for Breakfast most days, occasionally a bowl of oatmeal or Cereal. salad, cottage cheese or a shake for lunch if I didn't have one for breakfast, and a low fat regular meal for dinner. I have gone down a shirt size and can pull most of my pants off, but have not lost a pound in 4 weeks,, its making me crazy. Right now, the lbs. do matter because I need to lose another 8 before surgery. I am trying to be more active, but its getting cold here and walking is not an option.. I would love to get a treadmill, but haven't found a decent one I can afford yet..

Anyone going through this?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
