Did your doctor say what kind you should be drinking? I use the Atkins shakes and I don't think they are bad at all. I like the chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. They are not as easy to find as some and they are not cheap. I'm sure there are people who don't like them, but I do. I still have to have one every day for Breakfast. They keep me satisfied until lunch. Good luck to you!! Becky

I got Optifast from my doctor but I really like eas carb advantage because they are so much cheaper and taste fine (from walmart). I lost 15 lbs on just those and Jello the 2 weeks before my surgery. I'm 1 1/2 weeks post op and could not take one more sweet Protein Drink so I got Any whey at GNC I've been putting it in broth and it's been great to have Soup instead of a sweet shake. Never thought I'd be sick to death of chocolate and vanilla. hope that helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
