kiz 1 Posted February 3, 2009 "Rockbandster" (and his various incarnations) was touting his medical training as proof that he knew what he was talking about when disagreeing with other posters, and worse yet, when adamantly disagreeing with their surgeons. It's one thing to come on a message board where 100s of people are looking for other's opinions, and give a layman's opinion, and quite another when someone comes on and says, and I'm quoting RB, "I'm right, and you're wrong," and then attempts to back up his argument by saying he's a quasi expert in the field because he's worked extensively with Lap Band patients. At that point, it's either step and give your credentials (as many on this board generously have), or shut up. I, for one, am very grateful for the posters and moderators who pushed this point. It's also not as if his name and adress was published; it was only his occupation.
WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted February 3, 2009 Priceless, just priceless. First the orderly came here saying he had more education than MacM and I, then he comes back as a surgeon. What next? I guess it will all depend on which profession he'll need to bolster his next set of opinions. Personally, I'm betting that the next incarnation will be a Realize employee admitting Rocky the orderly is right and the entire J&J company making the Realize band are finally admitting the error of their ways. Heh...

MacMadame 81 Posted February 3, 2009 Okay, so now that rockbandster has been outed, can we get back to the original topic... I feel sorry for alicat who asked a very simple question and really didn't get much of an answer.
Elisabethsew 50 Posted February 3, 2009 I think that one of the ways a surgeon decides which band to use is based on the amount of weight that needs to be lost (in addition to the anatomy). A 4 cc band seems a bit small given the amount Ali wants to lose. Since the Realize band holds 9 cc's, maybe that will "do the trick" for her as she loses the rest of the weight. peachwood 0 Posted February 5, 2009 I find this discussion fascinating!! What I would like to see on this forum is for everyone to tell what band they have and then monitor everyone's progress. No cheating! It would be an interesting informal study.
NewYorkdoll 0 Posted February 6, 2009 The pressure system is different for the older bands which is why the fact that one holds 4cc's and one holds 9cc. It has nothing to do with the size. The benefit of low pressure bands like the Lapband VG, AP and Realize and Realize -C bands is that it allows for more precise adjustments. By the way there is no such thing as an 11cm Inamed VG, it a 10cc. These are the sizes for US bands. Lapband 9.75,10= 4cc Lapband VG= 10cc Lapband APS= 10cc Lapband APL= 14cc Realize band =9cc Realize band -C =11cc

You didn't ask but it would make things much saner here if he/she were gone for good IMO.
WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted February 9, 2009 cm is a unit of measurement and cc/ml is a measurement of volume. Please don't give out incorrect information. For the first time Rocky is correct. The 11cm refers to the length, 10cc is the amount it holds. However, much as I hate to admit it, there is no such size band from Inamed.
grantp 0 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi I too lost 60 pounds and then I had days I could not eat and vomited anything I put in my mouth. I am having the band replaced Nov. 11th. I am unaware of the name of the band. I too am looking forward to losing the other 60 pounds. My only worry is if this happened once will it happen again. ssankofa73 2 Posted October 25, 2010 Its sad to know that it only takes 1 person to hijack a thread..... On a more positive note.... I plan on having a band revision to change from a 4cc band to a 10cc band. Has anyone had any knowledge or experience with this?
