Too much fill!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I went in for my 3rd fill 2 weeks ago and he put 1cc in a 12cc band. I drank some Water before I left and it gurgled just a little and the nurse asked if I felt ok and I said I guess so, and I left. I went home and tried to have a cup of Soup and it wouldnt go down. nothing would go down. the doctor was going to be out of town until after thanksgiving and the nurse said as long as I could drink, I would be ok until he returned. well, after vomiting over 50 times that week, I started seeing blood, so I went to the emergency room, I was dehydrated and had to have an iv and after lots of research(about 2 hours) the er doc decided to try to give me an unfill. 20 pokes later he gave up and the nurse finally found the port and took out 1cc. instant relief. I have another fill scheduled for 12-22 and believe me when I say, i'm not walking out that door unless i'm positive everything is working the way it should. I wouldnt wish that kind of misery on anyone!!!!!:tongue2:

Oh my goodness. I am so glad you are doing better. That must have been horrible. Hope everything goes better with next fill. I just got my first fill 12-1 after my first 6 weeks post op. I have 3cc in a 10cc band. My doc waits 6 weeks between fills, I'm not scheduled for my 2nd fill until 1-19. Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
