Able to eat to much!!

Recommended Posts

Okay so i was banded on 11/11/08 and have been doing well, i lost 20 pounds so far and am loosing a few inches but no more pounds. I go for my first fill next friday and i'm worried because for the past week i have been able to eat a normal adult food portion and i don't really know what to do. I know this means i need a fill, but after the fill i will be able to only eat the small portions again right? I want so badly to be successful with this new tool that i have been fortunet enough to receive but very scared that i'm able to eat normal amounts of food and getting hungry sooner than i should.

Thanks!

Dont worry...from what ive been reading we wont get good restriction until about the 2-3rd fill. everyone is different but thats what ive been reading. I just got my first fill and i can tell a slight difference. Im still able to eat a good amount but not what i used to eat. Just make sure you stop eating as soon as you are not hungry anymore. Do not overeat. Stay away from carbs and make sure you are getting in your 70 grams of Protein. This will help with hunger. good luck. :tongue2:

Hi Ladybug: I was banded on 11/11/08 too! How is your exercising going? Are you making sure you get all your Protein in, which will fill up? Drink plenty of fluids too.

My doctor does not fill until 6-weeks post op. But she did place 3cc in my band at the time of surgery. I have a 10cc band.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
