Sooverit! 1 Posted December 4, 2008 Woke up feeling so nauseous tonight and have been feeling this way for the past 2 days post surgery. Just wondering how long does this last?
*slim* 2 Posted December 4, 2008 You may want to ask your doctor for some medicine for that. I don't recall being nauseous at all the first week. I was given something to have on hand plus being sent home with a patch behind my ear. I know that the liquid pain medicine on basically an empty stomach (liquids only) can cause that. I am sorry that you are feeling poorly. Call your doctor for something to take.
gentylwind 1 Posted December 4, 2008 I only had nausea from the car ride home from the hospital, and the doctor called in some Phenargan for me. You might ask yours for some. It really helps and also aids in sleeping well.
princess070 0 Posted December 4, 2008 I also had nausea for a while and it was from the pain med. My hubby went a bought me a patch to put behind my ear for that and it really worked. I can't remember the name of the patch, but it's like gravol. just ask at the drug store. It also helped not to get up too fast, just take your time. If someone is looking after you, then don't get up at all. (except to go to the bathroom.) :cursing:
LSF 264 Posted December 4, 2008 The pain meds do cause nausea. I limited mine to right before I went to bed - then I would eat a Tums when I woke up in the morning and I was fine. If you need something during the day - just take Tylenol.
Sooverit! 1 Posted December 4, 2008 Thanks so much guys...this is such a great resource. I was wondering if my intense nausea - (learning to spell this word without checking now) which is gradually going away, has anything to do with having my mestrual cycle begin the night I got home! I heard there is more swelling at this time? If it continues I will look into your suggestions ...wish I asked sooner! thanks agian,
princess070 0 Posted December 4, 2008 Oh, you poor thing! no one needs a menstrual cycle at the same time as this, lol! I checked the name of the med. i took and its called TRANSDERM-V 1.5 mg. and its time released for 3 days. Hope your feeling better soon:smile2:
Sooverit! 1 Posted December 5, 2008 Oh thank you for looking it up Princess...I am calling my doc tomorrow. Can you believe it? I'm 49 and had a few irregular periods so i wasn't expecting it the first day out of surgery!! Yikes...i was like just what I don't need now! But I'm learning the lap band isn't for sissys and I'm getting tougher by the day! Wow...you are down 21 lbs. already since the 28th!~~you must be thrilled! Are you having fun trying on clothes in your closet that were tight? I put on a sweart shirt I had that used to be a bit snug to pick up my daughter from school tonight and it fit better than it has already! thanks again for your help! princess070 0 Posted December 5, 2008 LOL, you would think 21 lbs. would make my clothes loose, but my belly is still so swollen i cant tell. my port area still hurts like a knife sometimes, and im beginning to wonder if this is normal :tongue2: all the best, take care:smile2:
Sooverit! 1 Posted December 5, 2008 Oh princess ...call your doctor as soon as possible about that hon. How does it look? Is it still red or swollen or any dampness around it? I don't have too much pain there but then again only one incision hurt badly after surgery but it may be from the C-section I had that took out some nerves in my stomach I think! But please call...that's what their paid for....keep us posted!
