RestlessMonkey 7 Posted December 4, 2008 I didn't even KNOW there was a 12 ml lap band; I thought the "new" AP ones were 10 and 14 ml. At any rate, call your doc. If you can't keep liquid down you are too tight.

missnikkie0514 0 Posted December 4, 2008 Hi, I only have the 10 cc band but I received my 3rd fill on 11/19 of only .75cc's to put me at 6.25cc's and it was restriction that I have never experienced before. I was able to keep Water down but it took a long time to drink anything and as far as food is concerned I could only eat one or two bites of food at a time which is not good. With that i was not able to get my Protein in or my Water for the day. On a positive note, I lost 13 pounds in 12 days which is good but bad considering you should only lose 1-2 per week to be considered healthy. I let this go own for about 12 days and then I called the dr again to ask if this was normal. I mean after all I was not throwing up I just couldn't get anything much down. She told me no and I had to go to the office to have just a little bit removed. Since the fill was only .75cc they took out .3cc which was BIG RELIEF.....so now I feel a little loose again considering but it was better than before. I go back on 12/18 for another fill and at that time they may put in a little bit more but less than .3cc's Surgery- 8/29/08 starting weight 335:angry: Fill #1 - 9/29/08 4.5cc Fill#2 - 10/22/08 1.0cc Fill#3 - 11/19/08 .75cc Slight unfill 12/1/08 .3cc :cursing: Current weight - 12/4/08- 290:thumbup:
jillrenee15 0 Posted December 8, 2008 Just remember that the first 2-3 days after a fill your stomach will be irritated and swollen in the banded area. I am always way tight the first couple of days after a fill, I can only eat 4-5 bites and get that stuck feeling, but then on the 4th day and beyond it loosens up some. Sometimes a wait and see approach is best, especially if you are just starting to get small fills and know you are far away from really good restriction. Also, instead of Water, try hot tea or coffee. The warmth seems to be soothing to my stomach after a fill. Good luck and take it slow!!
ddodgens 0 Posted December 10, 2008 Happen to me last weekend, received a fill on Saturday. I have a 10cm band with a 4cc fill range. I was already at 1.8cc and had a fill of another cc. bringing me to 2.8cc's. Water and liquids were going down with no problems on Saturday. On Sunday, I cold not hold down my own saliva. I was TOO TIGHT. It is not a good feeling at all. I went and has some .6cc removed. Now I have 2.2cc's and I feel like I have no restriction again. Being to tight is not a good thing. If you go to long you will get dehydrated.
HeatherO 7 Posted December 10, 2008 You need to be really, really careful with being too tight. Having restriction is pointless if you end up getting a slipped band from being too tight too long. If you can't get 3 sips down, it probably isn't going to get any better. I made the mistake of getting too tight a fill, could drink but not easily, and thought I would give it a few days . . . pb'd a few times and then my stomach swelled until I could get nothing down. I then had to have a huge unfill where I had no restriction to allow my stomach to heal. By waiting, I not only made the problem worse, I had to go back to less restriction than I had for many, many months. Don't wait, call your doctor. Always remember . . . fluids are the most important. If you can't keep them down in small quantities, you have a serious problem and time may just make it worse instead of better. Why risk it???
