I overate tonight and can feel it!

Recommended Posts

I'm only 2 weeks post-op and still on mushies. I start soft food in 2 days. I have been SO hungry lately that I found myself eating non-stop between 5pm - 6pm. I had a 3oz SF pudding, SF Fudgesicle, 1/4 c - cream of chix Soup and a 1/4 c of mashed potatoes. Then, I had a tsp of Peanut Butter and a bite of cheese! I stopped because I felt it kind of stuck in the piping going down. That was 2 1/2 hours ago. I'm not nauseaus, I can drink Water, I'm not sliming - but I still feel it. I keep burping small burps. Will it go away on it's own? I know I should have never let myself get carried away!

Any advice would be appreciated.

It will go away. I had this happen too, mainly from eating too fast due to extreme hunger. You will find it gradually lessen, but you won't forget it. I am more careful since getting a little bit over full one time late last week. It does amuse me how little food it takes to get me full now.

Yes - I slept through the night - nothing ever came up but it still feels like something is there. I work at a hotel so when I go in this morning, I'm gonna go to the restaurant and take a couple of sips of pineapple juice. I dind't think I would be as restricted as I am. I guess that's a good thing compared to some of the other people who have no restriction.

Definitely is, but yeah, its uncomfortable when it happens. I have noticed that letting myself get absolutely starved is not good for me. It makes the whole eat slowly, chew extremely well thing difficult to remember when I am ravenous.

I hope the tightness goes away. You may just be a little swollen from having eaten too much and might consider going back to full liquids for a day to give your belly a rest.

Actually, I ended up being fine today. I think you were right - it was just too fast because nothing ever came up.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
