healthy nana 0 Posted December 3, 2008 3 mths since surgery, lost 34 lbs. I feel wonderful! Lost a lot of weight first month. Second month did not lose any weight! Always hungry and sometimes cheated. :cursing: After second fill 3 wks ago, I lost 8 lbs. food gets stuck a lot though. Sometimes I can eat fine, other times impossible. Proteins shakes get me through tough times. Very happy!
Melisa1 0 Posted December 3, 2008 I get my first fill tomorrow of 2cc. Do you feel a difference after your first fill?
healthy nana 0 Posted December 3, 2008 Yes, you will. I had problems the first week, everything was swollen but after first week could eat ok as long as I chewed a lot. I wasn't as hungry either. The second fill was much better for me. Good Luck!
jheedley 0 Posted December 4, 2008 Congratulations on the 34 lbs, that a massive feat in itself. Did you do liquids the first month? I was just banded a few days ago, I feel like I am starving to death! Any advice?
healthy nana 0 Posted December 5, 2008 I'm not sure if you got my first reply so I'll try again. It's kinda of long but I would have loved to have someone to talk too. I was very hungry after the first week! I even chewed up food and spit it out! Yuck! But I was so hungry. I really never felt full until my second fill. I listed below the weeks. Remember, everyone is different. Some people may have been heavier. I also counted the weight I lost from the two weeks on no carbs prior to surgery. I was totally confused about my diet. My Dr., nutrionist and the pamphets I was given did not match. So I took the easy way. They all told me I started foods too early but I was ok. 1st week: protien shakes, Ensure, broth and pops Also, the liquid protien (in a test tube) was good. I froze them and ate like sorbet or chilled and just drank them down. 42 grams Protein. 2nd week: liquids, puddings, applesause, Soups and soft running foods like mash pot, oatmeal. I would put more liquid in them so they were extra soft. I still ate a lot of popcyicles (Eddy's sugar free fruit Pops) 3rd week: Soft foods, foods I could break up with fork. ALso Wendy's chili (just chewed the heck out of it before I swallowed). 4th week: Slowly added more food items. Still chewed a lot and mashed most things End of 4th week I had my first fill. :tongue2: It helped curb the hunger. I had to be careful what I ate. chicken was harder to get down but most things were ok. I didn't really feel satisfied until my second fill. I did not loose any weight during my second month. I cheated though. I think the secret is to try and stay away from carbs. Carbs make you hungry and also loose muscle instead of fat. 8th weeks: My second fill. The first week I could barely eat and lost 7 more lbs. Since then I have slowly added more items but usually cannot eat much until dinner time. (stress makes it harder too). I have lost 10 or 11 lbs this month. I am not sure if I will have another fill. Just have to see if this one stretches out! I hope this helped! My favorite recipes: Iced coffee Protein Shake: 1 scope decaff instant coffee 1 scope vanilla Protein powder ( I love the Injury) 6-8 ozs of 2% milk ice Blend up with blender or majic bullet. banana and Peanut Butter Shake: 1/2 banana 1 Tlbs Peanut Butter 1 scope vanilla Protein Powder 6-8 milk ice Blend up! Have a great day! I know you can do! If I can anyone can, I love to eat.... Beverly aka Healthy Nana
