Tina - my PCP sent me an e-mail back and sent in a prescription for me for Buproprion - the generic form of Wellbutrin that I can pick up tomorrow - the dosage is 150 mg twice a day - he said he doesn't start with it as an antidepressant as one of the side effects could be seizures - no one I know who has taken it has ever had a seizure so I am willing to try it. I told him I had read that Wellbutrin has less sexual side effects and could I try it. Jeez, I sure am not worried about the sexual side effects but it worked. He now thinks I am getting/wanting some action - oh well he's a doctor.

I took my oldest son to Kaiser after school to get his warts froze off - poor guy he was really in pain.

I took a break from the gym today - back tomorrow - gosh I think I need to put Bengay on - serious sore muscles.

Went out to dinner with my parents and kids - I had a small chicken thigh (took off the skin) and one french fry - ended up pbing the last bite. I think I didn't chew the chicken well - I forget I can't eat like normal people. Sometimes I wish I had the sleeve too Tina.

Tina & Pammie - I've been on wellbutrin for a year now and let me assure you - it has NOT helped me with any head hunger or weight loss - however I have Zero side effects and I no longer cry LOL.

I take 2 x 100mg pills in the morning. They are the sustained release and before you all yell at me - Doc Who said There was no problem with me taking the SR version with the band. I switched to the regular ones after surgery and had to take 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening but I found that they didn't work so well - I was getting my headaches back more freequently and they they kind of keep you awake when you take it too late. So, I got the ok to go back on the SR version. The reason I started off with them is because my PCP said it had the least chance of weight gain as a side effect. All anti depressants are "blockers" so that is why they slow down the weight loss process - because the "block" the hormone that tells your brain to burn cals. I think with this one, though, it amps you up a bit in the beginnig so that you are in such a good mood that you don't eat as much - just my opinion but I'd LOVE to hear what Dr. Oz said about it.

Got an appointment with unemployment tomorrow - UGH!

Woo Hoo !!! Tamra and Nicolie I'm so happy for you this is great! I bet both of you will be banded next month.

Pat you have Dr P so the gas x is a must, you may as well get a couple packs. I think I ate about 4 packs of that stuff before the gas was finally out LOL.

Skied squaw....I was mostly there for the social activities. The best part was I was never short of breath that was always my problem. No breathing problems at all. I told you all there is something to this :smile2:

Candra good luck with unemployment.

Tina good you are going anyway. I wouldn't give up on getting a little fill. Perhaps Baggs will understand that you need a little one just to give you a jump start.

I'm really mad at my self I'm still not back on the wagon. I just can't get it together the holidays and then the trip, now my b-day ugh. BTW: I'm 5 lbs away from my b-day goal so that won't happen. I think I'm gonna look at the 5 day pouch test. Don't know who posted the link but thanks.

Tamra - my case manager appt was 11/23 and at the appt. she offered me 12/7 with a different surgeon. I really like Dr. Park and didn't want to change and I wanted my surgery for after the holidays. The January schedule wasn't available then so I had to wait for her to call me in about a week and half. I think some of the back up was the holidays and also more people wanted to do surgery around them because of the time off. So I am sure you and Nicollie get dates pretty quick. I was surprised there were a lot of people in my pre-op class - only a few lap banders - maybe 4 -5, and about 25 RNYers and 2 sleeves. I don't know how frequently they do the pre-op classes (Liz and Robin taught mine - 2 classes offered back to back.)

Tina everything you say is just being open and truthful, and believe me it helps to hear it all.. I wanted to tell you I have a packet that Dr. WHo gave me at my surgeon appointment I will bring it to you Saturday if you would like it. He offered it to me but I already suffer from heartburn bad and he said it will make it worse so the band is for me, but if you want it I can give it to ya...

Candra, I called Sarah because my PCP didnt forward my current PAP examine so I let her know I can send it to her (its from my old Ob) anyways, I asked her how come the guy at the lab told me 48-72 hours for the urine test to come back, she said "Ive been doing this a while and it almost always takes 2 weeks"... SO I said ok cool... I got bummed out about it but then I realized what the heck am I worried about this has happened the way its supposed to so I am going to just stay on track and get down more.... Sorrry I just needed to get that out lol.... Helps to type it I guess lol...

Pat I am so stoked for you... TWO WEEKS!!!! YAY, I cant wait to be your band buddy too... Gosh 3 of us together is so awesome!!

I am so glad to see everyone on Sat, who is all going???

Candra - yes, I think I'm ready. My head is there already so the waiting is starting to get to me. I just want it done with so I can get on with things. Can't concentrate at work with s---! I started getting all the stuff together I will need and started to really think about how little food I will eating. Not sure I have fully come to terms with the 1/4 cups yet, but I'm sure I will get there. I have been going down this path since July so I really think I am ready. I am a pretty good analyzer, but I always get to a point where it is time to just make a decision and act. I am at that point. Enough thinking about it - just do it!!

Nicollie - you have been doing an awesome job. Your attitude is so positive. I love what you said about everything happening in its own time for a reason. Below is a prayer that my sister sent me. I printed and taped it to my computer at work since I tend to stress about work, not doing the work I want to, etc. and when I read it it really grounds and calms me.

You have been a wonderful inspiration as has the whole online group of wonderful SOS women! I also have to offer special thanks for Riley - she has been my hero and such a good support. I hope I can repay the support and love one day.

May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others... May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are.. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us..'

Pat, when I had my gallbladder out in November, I went to the Natural Pharmacy and asked the Homeopathic person what I could use for the post-op gas. I got a remedy called "Carbo Vegetabalis". She told me I could even add a few balls to my drinking Water but I didn't need to. It comes in tiny little balls that you put under your tongue. I'd take it a few times a day. If I felt a twinge of that gas in my upper shoulder, I'd just pop a few and bam, the gas was gone.

I'm a true believer in it for post-op. Gallbladder has the same gas as WLS.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
