I have Candra on my mind this morning too- her surgery is almost over - I left her a voice mail last night at 8 pm - must have gone to bed early.

I was down another pound this am 207.0 - that's three since my fill last Wednesday. My band is really tight in the morning - I'm hoping it will loosen up a bit this week. I brought egg salad for lunch - I'm a little afraid to eat it after pbing it all up on Saturday. I have a Protein Drink too so may just have that.

My son's girlfriend broke up with him this weekend - his first girlfriend. Poor guy. So yesterday was emotionally trying for him and me. He cried on and off all day and I was having flashbacks of me being 15 and having to move away from my boyfriend. One of life's hard lessons.

Thanks for the update Nicole. My dad ate lunch while I was in recovery - doubt it would have bothered me if he at on the way home though - I was kind of out of it and the last thing I felt like doing for the next couple of days was eating

Congratulations Candra! You are now officially banded. Take care of yourself and take the pain meds if you need them.

You're up next Jess - try to not to stress too much before hand - it'll be over before you know it.

Good idea, it can be so long for their little minds to wait! Glad u will do a video, just bet there are women who are so curious to what you are going thru. Would be good to share the difference the band is making thru ur pregnancy. Again, I am so glad for younger women having this tool, and to grow healthier with their children. I believe, I have added years onto my life, to be ready (when the time comes) for the grandchildren! But it is fun, just keeping up with my young guys now. Can you come do the walk with us? As a fam?

Also, did your nausea go away, seems like you have not mentioned it, so I hope so! Hope to see u on the 26th!

So How many Ladies are doing the Run/Walk on 10/10/09 in Lincoln? What do we need to do in order to participate if we want to? I checked out the site but I am not familiar with the process since I have never done one before and I was thinking of dragging my daughter along to try it. By the way are most of the people going walking or running....cause I don't run?

So does Richmond release you the same day as surgery now? Or has that always been like that?

When I had my surgery done in 2007 in South San Francisco I was there for 2 days. But I am glad I was....it forced me to move more and walk since a nurse came by to walk with me every 3 hours even through the night. I know if I went home right away (since I was home alone) I would have been more apt to stay in my lazyboy chair without walking as much.

Richmond has always released lapband patients the same day -it is considered out patient surgery- we had to stop halfway home to Sacto so I could walk around a couple of minutes. You don't have to walk tons when you get home as long as you are faithfully using your spirometer. I was at home alone and I would get up to go the bathroom or get Water or sugar free Jello.< /p>

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
