Congratulations Christine! what a blessing.

Ok, I'm kicking into parent mode.....keep this to yourself until Bri comes home so you can tell him. Then first thing tomorrow go to Kaiser and get confirmation, email/call Dr Baggs & Liz. You have to do everything by the book.. we only want to best for you and the little one. I could go on and on but you get the drift.

Congratulations Chris!!

Yea let kaiser know sooner rather than later..........I think you don't have to get an unfill until you start to show and the band tightens up.............thought I heard that somewhere. But I think during pregnancy they quit worrying so much about weight loss.................they worry about that later................

Liz........ah dear............she is gonna be a feisty one to deal with a Robin too. Better to get it over with.

YOu could just email Dr. Baggs??

Nicole did you take your pregnancy test girl?? You should just be on the safe side.........

I am scared to leave CPS after 10 years and not wanting to lose Kaiser but I think maybe I can work something out with Liz and Dr. Baggs or maybe just buy Kaiser for awhile..............I wish I could email Liz and aske her what to do. I can't get her by phone very easy.........I will try to find her on the 3rd!!

Well working on resume so nite ladies......

Tina check with your HR - new legislation - part of the economic recovery stuff - is that COBRA costs you only 35% of the cost for the first 9 months - so as loing as you are in a Kaiser area ou will be OK - google it, here is the info from our HR:

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provides a COBRA premium reduction for Assistance Eligible Individuals (AEI’s). The premium reduction is available to certain individuals who experience a qualifying event that is an involuntary termination of employment during the period beginning with September 1, 2008 and ending with December 31, 2009. These individuals may be eligible for the temporary premium reduction for up to nine months.

However, if a qualified beneficiary is eligible for other group health coverage (such as through a new employer’s plan or a spouse’s plan) or Medicare, he or she is not eligible for the premium reduction.

If you qualify for the premium reduction, you need only pay 35 percent of the COBRA premium otherwise due to the plan. The premium reduction is not available for periods of coverage prior to March 2009. Complete details will be included in the COBRA notice sent to each terminating employee.

At the end of the 18-month COBRA continuation period, you may be able to convert your medical coverage to an individual insurance policy. Contact the medical plan directly if interested.

Yeah, I know...I'm nervous to tell them. I know they're gonna think it was on purpose! (It would've been on purpose about 3 months from now, lol but this is TRULY a surprise!)

I was reading on the pregnancy lapband section here and lots of girls got partial unfills or no unfills at all during pregnancy. There wasn't anyone that got completely unfilled so that's good. I'm at 8cc's so I'm sure I'll need a partial unfill and that's fine. I have major will power now taht I'm almost at 75 lbs lost. I want to gain as little as possible while maintaining a really healthy perfect pregnancy.

Thanks for the well wishes girls and for NOT making me feel bad about how soon this happened! Jeez, I won't even be 5 months post-op til the 6th of September. I guess that's not very poster child of me!

CONGRATS Chris!!! WOO-WEE!

I know it is not ideal, but it IS really REALLY common to get preggers so soon after surgery! Count your blessings that you had Lap-band, it would be BAD news if you had had RNY! No they will not be happy but these things happen! I think yes you have to have an unfill tho

Congratulations Christine - babies are a gift - enjoy it. So what if they get mad at you - they'll get over it and it's your life not theirs.

Nicole - did you ever take your pg test? How did Mike's first day at work go?

Tina - that is horrible - make the decision that is right for you and Michaela.

Reggie - how were you able to get those Bagels down? But they sound yummy.

Candra - bites of cake sound yummy too - I can't eat cake at all - only the frosting.

Riley - glad you had fun in Oregon.

Work stinks today - luckily I get to leave at 2 pm.

Hey where is everyone? No messages since 2 pm. I think that is a record. I'm getting ready to go to back to school night for my 8th grader - all my kids are going too. My 15 yr old has lied to me twice in the last 2 hours about being on the phone with his girlfriend. I took away the computer for tonight for the first lie. I even told him I could tell when he is on the phone upstairs as the light comes on the phone downstairs. I told him he got in trouble for lying - I didn't care he was on the phone. So the second time I asked him what he was doing upstairs - he said nothing - I said you weren't on the phone - he said no. Busted - gosh you think he would have learned from an hour ago. Hopefully next week he will have more homework to keep him busy after school. gotta run. I'll check in later.

I'm here . . still at work, eating a bean burrito OOPS. Stayed too late to decorate for a co-worker's 30th birthday 2morrow, won't get home before my self-imposed 6:30 dinner deadline so I am eating now - lame excuse huh?

OK reporting in: flying did not bother my band at all, and I flew early and ate (peanuts) and drank (decaf) on the plane with no issues. Also being at altitude (over 5000 ft) did nothing either. In fact the only time I had ANY issues was when I stupidly tried to eat part of the bun on my son's chicken sandwich at 8 am at the Portland airport - I spend the next 20 minutes going from the boarding gate to the ladies' room and back - no PB, just sliming. Still . . all in all no issues, much less than I was having with travel before my last fill.

Congrats Christine!!!

Tina, I still haven't heard anything! We don't have the same email as the rest of the county, so it may be that someone will have to send it out dept wide. You're my informant!

Thanks everyone. I'm getting really excited now that I've had all day for it to set in. I STILL haven't told my hubby yet and he's sitting in the same room as me! I'm waiting til Soph is in bed because we won't tell her probably til I'm 12 weeks or so...otherwise this will be a LONG 8 more months!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
