Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

I won't be there Satuday!! I am gonna see my baby cousin who is about 4 months old!! LOL. I still haven't made it up to see her and I still have her present which may or may NOT fit!! I just need a family weekend it has been way to long........*******feeling jealous however and wishing it was a different weekend*************

Nicole you guys staying at The Holiday Inn?? I LOVED that place by the way.............to many memories of PB'ing all night!! LOL But other than that it was great.........loved the hot tub!!

Work was crazy. People are chaotic. I only went in half day and worked in the field half day......I just needed to chill.

So the final work is 62 masters level positions will be cut. 16 Batchelors will be cut..........the rest is supervisors and upper management clerical and Family Services workers............the total is 200. workers. They said CPS will no longer be investigating all referrals and we are cutting way, way back..........we might only be addressing kids 0-5 .............they don't know but they are gonna put out something in the paper so that the community will know CPS has been pretty much disabled and we can only address the worse cases and probably the youngest kids............

Am I staying or going? I don't know. Looks like if I am willing to work nights or weekends they might let me stay. Than there is that 17% paycut to consider. I won't have a choice of my job or my hours but if I can accept that they will probably let me stay........Also every friday off starting in NOvember........that might not be so bad .........just the pay cut is bad.

So I don't know. I think I stay and stick it out no matter how bad it gets.......I have a couple of places to turn in my resume tomorrow. I don't know what to do. No good options right now

BUT Kaiser...........I am almost willing to put up with anything to keep my kaiser and keep Dr. BAggs and my fill schedule.........I could also try to find another job after I get to my goal weight!!

So better news today but still not 100% sure of anything...........and nights and weekends!!!!!!!!!!!!

And back to court and attorneys again...........

What can you do??? California sucks??

OK ladies that just took me 2 solid hours to read & I am not kidding! And of course now I can't remember any of it, LOL!!

Tina I hope it's all good . . . . I have convinced myself that I would happily move to Bend with my family if I got laid off . . . . but I would NOT be happy, I would be freaked! My job is too much of my self-identity now that my kids are grown . . .

I think I only gained 1 lb. in Oregon, which is amazing because I was chowing big-time on Chinese food, homemeade chocolate chop Cookies with walnuts, etc. on Sunday and Monday. But I was super active too, Monday I did Tumalo Falls (the whole hike with the 7 waterfalls, not just the first one!) at 5,000-6,000 feet elevation *THAT WAS HARD!! Minday I did the Deschutes River Trail, both BEAUTIFUL I can totally see why everyone in Bend is so fit & active!! But I tell you, I am with my brother's family who are die-hard climbers, and I was SCRAMBLIN' big-time to keep up! The elevation really got to me on the hills too, at least the first day - need to remember that for the Lake Tahow Marathon next month! Will post a pic or two later if my son remembers to download and email them to me . . . .

Yee gads too much to do! Did anyone call Liz about the walk Saturday? Who all is going? Looks like it is going to be hot! And yes we should picnic :-)

I tried to call Liz but she wasn't in the office..........I was gonna tell her about this weekend since I needed to talk to her anyway.............haven't been able to get to her.

Sacramento County is laying off all of its workers in October. Everyone. The will than turn around and offer you a job at 9/10's and force the forloughs. They also will reduce health benefits most likely at the same time. If you don't accept the offer they will report you to the unemployment office so you can't get unemployment funding. They are doing this void any contracts or obligations to union workers. They will than hire you back with a new contract you will have to sign to keep your job that reduces pay, adds forloughs and reduces health benefits...............so I am not sure that avoiding the first round of layoffs is a good thing. At least the first group will get thier unemploment when they go..........

Union is calling for a strike which I think is useless. I don't have the time or money to strike or turn down a job...........last time they went on strike I couldn't pay my rent that month!! :-P Not doing it again..........

I am working on my resume as we speak. Anyone have a good resume I can look at.......need ideas!!

evening everyone, back from my walk, very refreshing it was a beautiful evening. Candra next time, I hope to go again on Thursday and then counting Sat I will have done 4 days this week. I'm no Riley Jane but I do ok :)

Riley sounds like you had a good trip plus a whole lot of walking. I'm sure you'll be ready for your marathon. Don't leave the slow people on sat.

Pam that's good idea to email Dr Park for the heads up....Thanks.

Tina well if you decide to stick around at least you will be able to jump back in once this economy turns around because you know that they are not going to be able to do without CPS for that long. Also, I did a lot of resume searches on google and pieced together things from different ones.

Donna I got your IM I guess I was signed in all day, oops. I'll remember to log out tonight :)

I think my job is pretty safe since I work for the school of medicine, doing a very unique job. It's just the across the board furloughs that's a pain in the butt. We are hoping that it will only be for a year and then go back to regular hours. The UC system really doesn't need the state, in fact they just loaned the state $250 million. Going private is probably so far down the road it's not worth talking about.

ok enough of my rambling...hope everyone else had a good day and an even nicer evening.

Later

Ah Jes if you have something on resumes or any advise on what you think works............I would love to have it. I just talked to my parents and got alot of tips and a sample resume.

I would totally do this job that is up for grabs. I just have to sell myself.........

I am scared to leave CPS after 10 years and not wanting to lose Kaiser but I think maybe I can work something out with Liz and Dr. Baggs or maybe just buy Kaiser for awhile..............I wish I could email Liz and aske her what to do. I can't get her by phone very easy.........I will try to find her on the 3rd!!

Reggie your fill is coming up??? Yea!!

I am a social worker and psych type. I sorta know why I overeat but that doesn't always stop me. For me it is stress or bored..........although the last few days I am stressed to the max and I can't eat. It makes me throw up..........sick as it sounds I am not complianing except to I went up two pound from NOT eating!! LOL. Just case we have the education and knowledge doesn' mean we can stop the patterns!! Ok, ok that is me I am talking about............maybe your just scared of your upcoming fill and that is why you did it??

I am starting to feel smaller and it is weird......I am not sure I am comfortable like this yet.......I feel strange somehow. LIke this isn't my body............I like it but I don't feel like me right now..........

Chris you could have done worse. I think you'll survive it.

But Chris isn't your band tighter?? MIne gets tight this time of the month.......

Ok off computer gotta get this resume out...........

Jes you have my mail. Any ideas on resumes and what YOU look for would be great......also interview tips!! :-)

OMG I could've done SO much worse and I used to back before surgery! I was craving salty so the damn chips and salsa did the trick. Dude, I was supposed to start LAST Monday, what's up with that? If I'm pregnant that will seriously be the SHOCK of my life. My sister gave me a pregnancy test she had, I might take it in a day or two if I don't start. I haven't been this late since before I started losing weight when my periods were really irregular. We were thinking of trying to get preggo this winter but it's not winter YET! lol

Oh well, I'm not gonna sweat it unless I need to.

So Tina, I did some searching on the county's intranet site and found the memo that talks about furloughs (16 hrs per month). What bugs me is there wasn't even an email! I went looking for it! I don't know how this "no-CPS" thing is going to work. I can't believe 10 years isn't enough time to keep you on. Ugh.

I had my new class tonight. It's so much better than the other one, I can't even compare them. This one is a blended format so it's 1/2 the time in the classroom and 1/2 the time online during the week. So much better than 4 hours in class at night (after a 9 hour shift at work). So, I like this class and even though the first paper is due in a week I'm not stressing.

I'll be in Petaluma on Saturday. I'm going to stay in the area Sat. night. I have friends in the area and we're going to visit. I'm excited for our weekend!

Nicole, I'm totally on your side about the floorplan. No one wants to be sharing a bathroom with a 2 year old. I won't live somewhere without 2 bathrooms now, total requirement. Did you guys look at the apts off Mather & 50? You could be really close to Reggie and Mike is right off the freeway.

Yeah, I don't know...I always start between 28 and 32 days. 28 days was last Monday and 32 was on Thursday (fill day). I haven't gone later than 34 since December (when I started losing weight) so I'm kinda curious. My boobs hurt, but that could be because I'm a week late and my hormones are going nuts cuz I need to start, BUT we did skip using protection ONCE this month. I guess once is all it takes, but I'm really hoping I'm not. Not yet. If I am I'll be happy and everything but timing wise I'd really love a few more months.

I'll keep ya posted for sure.

I would bet my last dime that your pregnant Chris...

Candra yeah we can meet up with you that works fo rme.

Who is all going Sat???

Tina: My heart goes out to you and all the poor kids out there. This is not good. And them putting it in the paper is stupid i think. What a good way to turn things back around FAST AS POSSIBLE. I remember as a kid i said ill call cps and i know that stopped my parents.. now kids will have noone on their side. Wow this really is kinda sad.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
