Thats sweet Nicole, we are always here for you! Mike seems supportive at least some of the time . . . .

Hey gang, that few spoonfulls at lunch (11:30, I ate too early) has lasted me until now!!! 4 and a half hours! PRETTY HAPPY about that!

Going to get a salad at round table with the boys now, we'll see how that works out :-)

OK well the salad and everything went down just fine! I sure got down a lot more than I did at lunchtime, but only 1/2 of what I was eating last week, so it took more to fill me up but salad is SO not "dense" like meat or cheese or eggs. So good! I will see how long this full lasts. I have already planned to walk to starbucks with daniel at 7:30 to get my skinny soy Decaf latte, hopefully I will be able to drink it by then but if not I'll save it for in the morning!!

Jeepers it is kind of spooky to have no one here! I am the lone poster today I guess . . . . . twilight zone music . . . .

Girls I am SO happy, I hit 800 calories today but it was all in little meals, no all-day eating or snacking, no hunger (except right before lunch), no PBing no problems of any kind! It is BOMB :-)

No restriction this afternoon. I mean I ate less than pre op but serious no noticable restriction...........weird.

Went to spaghetti factory............Thanks Tamra for the craving!! LOL...........ate salad, two bites of crust and 1/4 of a child's plate of pasta..........than ate the 3/4 leftovers tonight................had some ice cream.

nothing for Breakfast and I guess nothing for dinner give my indulgence earlier today................

Why??? Maybe I lost to much and lost the restriction. Weird, weird, weird............

I did eat slow and did chew very, very well.................

NOt a good food chioce day!!

So today, for me hmm tina i feel ya girl, i lost all restriction...

B: Cheeze stix 90 cal

L:Fish stick Tomato slice 10 crackers 200 cals

S: 1 c watermelon

D: Went out..

2 pork spare ribs, 2 hush pupies, 2 salad shrimp 1 pot sticker

Desert:( what i regret... 1/2 a piece of small chocolate pie:( i know i know bad bad bad:(

So im probably ending around 1000-1200 cals for the day, but still im so mad about the pie! Why!!!!!!!! Id have to say though does anyone else remember what it was like at a buffet??? Id go and fill a plate and then fill it again.. now i go get 2 ribs then 1 of a couple things and i fill up so easy i dont even get my plate close to empty, i find im like eh thats not worth the space..:) and its amazing watching my baby eat it all for me lol

Then came desert that is my weakness...

So at 9pm lol, i had my hubs out walking the circle with me:) Yes it was dark and no there are no lights:D lol so we atleast burned 250 cals.....

Oh and i lost 10 dollars at thunder valley that casino so does not pay out!!!

See Nicole, the difference between before and now is huge! I bet in the past you wouldn't have felt all that guilty about having a whole slice of pie. You've changed your behaviors and the way you think about food. Success!

Good Morning ladies, I have been reading your blogs for the last couple of days, So glad I found you. You all have great information and seem very supportive of each other. Just starting the process with Richmond Kaiser orientation on July 28 , I met with Dr. Parks on Friday have to lose 25 pounds to get a surgery date she said after the goal its a 6 to 8 week wait(not bad from what I have heard). I have a couple of questions 1. Have any of you had Dr. Parks as your surgeon? If so what did you think ? 2. What are the pre op tests and class requirements I know there is alot but wonder if anyone has a list. 3. Do any of you wish that you went with the RNY instead or are you happy with the Lap Band? Thanks for your help I am looking forward to being a part of this great group.

Hi Lori,

I was at the July 28th orientation too!! Where did you sit?? I was in the back row against a wall....behind the guy who kept falling asleep LOL! I got Dr. Fisher, the one who did the class, but I changed after meeting with him, something didn't sit right with me.

I have to loose 32 lbs pre-op. It seems to far away. I am down 16 since meeting with the dr. 7/29, but it has seemed to stop now. Glad you found us, now we can do it together, since we have the same date ranges!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
