The coolest thing happened today...

You know how the Kaiser scale is always wrong? Like my last weight check appt, their scale was 8 lbs higher than mine at home. Today was different. I was higher this morning and kinda bumming (but excited that clothes were starting to fit again). I didn't wear my dress to my appt, I felt silly. But I wore shorts, t-shirt and filp-flops. I was lower at Kaiser than I was at home! Good times.

I also got confirmation that there is a Bariatric Support Group at Elk Grove Kaiser, Monday nights from 7-9. In the second floor conference room. Maria? Pam? Interested?

OH Nicole my daughter is on the computer right now.

I am losing cause I am barely eating. LOL. I don't eat much cause only two to three bites and full. No Breakfast to hard and not hungry.

Try to get in two waters before I eat lunch. Doing Soup and salads when they work.

But protien is not so great ladies. That is the stuff that gets stuck if I don't go really slow and chew like a cow!! I don't know how Dr. Baggs will feel about my protien intake..........I keep thinking one day I will get up and it will start to go down than I will want the restriction back.

I think I can work this restriction for a couple of months ya know. But I will go it.

If I see a needle I will tell himi WAIT we need to talk first!! LOL. I want him to know where I am at before I get another fill. I think I am good for a couple of months now.

NIcole, Chris when I hear you high fill numbers I want to cringe!!! OMG if I was that high just shoot me cause I would be a walking mess!! LOL. I would not be eating or drinking............Bless you both with those fills!!

OH MY LORD YOU GUYS. I pb'd for the first tonight!!! It was horrible. We were at Steve's Place tonight for girls night and i had a salad. I ate about 5 or 6 croutons and then started to get that horrible feeling in my chest. I could tell it wasn't going away so I went to the bathroom and my best friend and sis came with me. I was spitting in the sink for about 10 minutes trying to get it to pass but it WOULDN'T.

Finally my throat kinda heaved (it was weird because usually when you puke it comes from your stomach but this is in your throat! It surprised me!) and had 3 little pukes into the bathroom sink. It was definitely the croutons!

SO SO SO gross...up until now I've only slimed twice. This SUCKED. It hurt so bad but as soon as it came up I felt fine. I was wishing I hadn't fought it for so long and had just gotten it over with earlier.

Oh well, no more croutons for me! I'm gonna do full liquids tomorrow just to ease myself back into food.

What a bummer, huh?

Tina, I had no idea the heaving part came from the chest/throat and not the stomach...so weird! How many times do you actually heave/pb before everything usually comes up? I think I did it about 3 times in a row. SO yucky. I can't imagine doing that every day or two, that must really be a bummer!

Go Tamra, get your weight down, go Tamra, get yo weight down! Good job, as these ladies say, 30 lb no prob. (Great quote!)

By the way, Chris my first PB was on a ... small... Peanut Butter cracker! It hurt like the dickens, but the learning curve is teaching me. Good to hear from you Chris, but hope the swelling goes away quick!

Just wanted to wish you all a fantastic, fun Friday!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
