I love shopping too! OK ladies here it is: Since the Schollengerger Park walk opens this weekend (this Friday is the ribbon-cutting, actually) in Petaluma, and we know we all want to do that one, AND since there is an Outlet Village in Petaluma - whaddayasay we make a day of it?? Walk in the late AM (or early PM if on Sunday, give folks time to get there after early service) - the walk should take us 2 hours - then shopping?? woo-wee Donna is skinny 12s!!! They are open on Sundays till 6 and till 8 or 9 the other nights Petaluma Village Premium Outlets Also there is little-shop shopping at the Petaluma Marina, and the trail goes there too!

So when? I have a wedding this Saturday August 1st, we could go the 2nd on Sunday, or wait until the next weekend - if we go the following Saturday (Aug 8th) you guys will have to put up with my cranky butt on clear liquids! I will sneak in a SF soy latter and be just fine tho :-)

Here is the Shollenberger wetlands walk link again

Shollenberger Park

hey there everyone, just checking in, late lunch.< /p>

Candra did you get an appt w/ Liz yet? I had to quickly scan through the emails. I know you didi your labs.

Tamra you are on your way, yea! oh it's about 2pm so litterally  and yes I followed Candra's no carb thing and my last few pounds just came off.

ok I may have missed it but what is sliming? sounds like something I may not want to experience.

Tina, how you doing? I'm thinking alot of this has got to be stress related. You've got a lot on your plate right now. Try listening to your relaxation tapes while you go for a walk or something. At least take some time for yourself.

Tamra - wooooo hooooo! Tell me what you think of Doc Fisher. How hard was he on you with the weight loss. I hope not too bad cuz I don't think another doctor would over-rule a doctors decision. I got a bunch of 16s & 18s you can have soon if you are not already to small for em'.

YES, MY LITTLE JEWELL! I GOT IT - 8.5.09 @ 2:30! I'm alloud 1 support person if you wanna come with!

Tina hunny I'm getting worried - what have you heard @ work?

Today I booked our tickets to Oregon (dad's girlfriend got pacemaker) on Southwest - 320 for both of us round trip, we can't drive there and stay in a hotel for that! - and I thought gee, I have not been on a SW flight since last October, just a few weeks before orientation . . . and then I had to try a bunch of seats to find one with a long enough belt, on the way back the plane was full and I had to get an extender. This time?? NO PROBLEMO! I can sit ANYwhere!!! Yay, can't wait :-)

I am in 16's ladies not a 12!! Give me all your clothes that are to big!!! Thanks to Candra I realize I am not an 18 anymore and got rid of the 18's...........

Work. I don't know yet. September 10, 2009 is when the county will go back and look a at the budget. Yea there will be layoffs about 200 and they are closing our foster home licensing and adoptions. Also adult protective services.....those people have seniority and can bump out out of our jobs in addition to 200 jobs lost. But that is about what I knew yesterday.........

I am n. 121 out of 240 masters level social workers so 120 workers would have to be laid off before me at masters level. Than there is another list of 240 workers who are batchelors level and I guess they go back and forth between the two list.............so I have no idea!!!

I was told I am a middle man............exactly in the middle of the seniority list. But I will probably go back to court investigations unit where I cam from...............CPS writing court reports and investigating abuse...........more like police work side of Social work.........interviewing witnesses......going before the judge.........getting back in business attire!!! LOL. Maybe weighing less it won't be so hot and uncomfortable this time around...........

I guess it really depends on the person. Dr. Baggs did check my stomach to. Had me do a few sit ups so he could feel the muscles and than announced..............lose 12 pounds and we can do it. I was already 10 down I tried to bargain him down and he laughed..................

But he was totally not pushy just told me with my history and heath I could do either.........I wanted him to decide for me but he wouldn't just gave me pros and cons. Said to think about it.............not pressure either way for me. I still wonder what he prefers.........

YAY Tamra! I am SO glad you hit it off with him . . I was worried about his weird joking giving you the heebie-jeebies! YAY! And do you know what girl, I want you to lose 32 lbs before surgery too! Even more if you can . . cause I want surgery to go easy for you. You can do it fast, we PROMISE!! Just remember, this is the LAST TIME you will ever have to lose weight without the wonderful tool that is the band.

Tina OH my goodness I am so bumming watching the news . . the budget cuts . . . all the ARC houses closing across the state . . . the safe & sober houses, the halfway houses . . there willbe NOTHING left, and we will have prisons full of down's syndrome and bipolar folks who only need support services and are on the streets . . .OMG to say nothing of the poor children! Pray for our state girls, our children, our senios, our handicapped . . .cause it's going to take divine intervention. Yee gads. I want my denial back!

Also just heard all CA courts are now ordered to close for the 3rd Wednesday of every month . . . so back to courts is still gonna be a pay cut Tina . . but at least you have that! We have a 10% reduction to 90% time + a 10 day unpaid furlough, I keep saying I would rather have 90% of a job than 0% . . . . OH! WHERE is my denial?!?

Ha! SO glad they have humor bones there. Dr. Baggs asked me which surgery (this is after he lifted my shirt, took one look and said, "you are going to have skin, we don't pay for that," LOL) I was interested in and I said I am only interested in the lap-band, he pulled one out of the pocket of his lab coat and just handed it to me, silently, I sat there like, well uhm thanks, uh . . . . could I get you to install this for me?

SO. . . my restriction is perfect today, I have had no sliming or PBing, I can eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup and a time, and then I feel full down in my tummy - not up in my pouch (that weird pouch feeling of being full has slowly turned into a tummy feeling of being full again - YAY!). I can get 3 hours out of it, if I got 4 I would be happier but . . . . I don't think I'm ever going to get that on 3 meals a day. I may snack forever! Shh don't tell Robin. I am logging carefully cause I have to fax her 1 week worth of food log before my fill on the 7th! The difference? Well . . . no excercise. All total I got 2 miles in today, whereas I usually get 4 in before 6:30 am. I really think that's what drives my hunger. So either I don't get a fill and I stop excercising, or I get a small one and keep excercising?!?! Girls I know you think I am weird, but . . I GOTTA HAVE MY EXERCISE!!

Do you think he will give me like just .25cc if I ask nice? If I had this level of restriction every day I would be TOTALLY in my green zone and not need any fill atall!

Probably RNY, cause he gets rid of them a lot sooner! We stick around and bug him for a long time, LOL.

Seriously, when I first met with him he said he preferred educated, motivated patients, and to tell my friends! At another appointment he said he was lucky because he gets all of the best patients. I think he probably prefers lap-band for kinds like us, because we are happy and motivated and supported and educated and reasonable and successful - you know, the best patients. Other kinds he probably prefers RNY for, let's face it there's a lot less aftercare involved and weight loss is guaranteed - for the first year. If a patient is unmotivated he would probably rather not watch them fail with a band. You do have to be motivated with this tool! :juggle:

I'm officially no longer "obese" and now classified as "overweight!" Years ago when I was 108 lbs (my old adult holding weight until the last 10 years) would I have ever thought there would come a day that I'd celebrate being "overweight!"
I hit my one year surgery anniversary next Wednesday (August 21st, 2023) and just so happen to have my final bariatric clinic check up on the same day. I'm looking forward to seeing my surgeon and being officially released into the wild! 😋
I'm curious as to what my labs will say, especially since they told me to not take my vitamins a few days before the labs. To be honest, I find this confusing since the whole point of taking vitamins is to keep your stats within normal ranges - to assure they're working as intended, yet since I quit taking them it will show I need to take them..so I'll hear "make sure to take your vitamins!" A vicious circle. Who knows why?!
Anyway, I have 40lbs to go to meet my goal and I'm really hoping I can do it in the next 6 months (for a total of 18 months post surgery). At my starting weight the charts show only 20% reach their goal within 18 months with a starting weight of 259 the day of surgery. I'd like to add that to achieved goals. Fingers crossed!
I'm amazed and thankful for everyone here on these forums who've supported me, answered my questions and understood the plight! Thank you all, you know who you are.

Good morning all, how long did it take insurance to approve you?
      1. NickelChip

Once it was submitted, not long at all. Just a few days, I think. But my surgeon's office didn't submit it until all my requirements were met, which included psych eval, dietician meetings, a certain number of visits, bloodwork, etc. As long as you've checked all the right "boxes" they require, the approval process should be very standard and easy. Your surgeon's office should know exactly what you need to get approved.

      2. juliie

good morning , I just need one more clearance from the insurance requirements which is my basic nutrition class , and that's on the 26th of this month. I have BCBSMI insurance. my surgeon said it usually takes 4-6 weeks for them to approve but can be sooner

      3. BlondePatriotInCDA

Once I completed all the insurance/program requirements - about a week. It seemed fairly quick, but I also contacted my insurance company several times to confirm all the requirements I needed to satisfy there paperwork machine and also nudge (nag squeaky wheel) them 😋 ! Also, my bariatric clinic is/was on top of it.

      4. juliie

@BlondePatriotInCDA thanks, I have BCBSM hopefully it doesn't take them long to approve me, i just need one more clearance from their requirements. wow a week ? that was fast ,have you had yours yet?

      5. BlondePatriotInCDA

Yes, my one year anniversary is this Wednesday. It will go quickly, it may not seem like it now..but trust me it will. I have BCBS as well. Good luck, you can do this!

Long whine alert - I'm really disappointed! I saw my primary Dr last month and told her I wanted WLS and she was all for it. Said that I had to do the 6 month supervised diet for my insurance and a boatload of other tests. Ok. I understand. She started my 6 month diet last month and sent a referral to the bariatric surgeon. MY plan was to do the supervised diet, then at the end of the 6 months in January, do all the other tests...sleep study, endoscopy, ekg, psych, nutritionist, etc. because all of that would get my insurance deductible met, then have surgery in February or March. Since my deductible would be met, I'd only be paying my 20% coinsurance by then. Got the call from the bariatric surgeon's office on Friday and was told that THEY are the ones that will do my 6 month supervised diet. I explained that my primary Dr already had me on it for a month but they said everything will go thru them. Ok. I understand. So I explain about wanting to complete the diet first, then do all the other testing (because I don't want to have to pay my deductible twice by paying for all that stuff now, & then it starts over in January) but she tells me that they do the testing while I'm doing the diet. That means that I cannot even start their bariatric program until January! They made my first appt for Jan 9th & that's when the 6 month diet will start with them & they'll submit to insurance for approval in June & I would have surgery in July. Man!!! That's almost a year from now! All because I don't want to pay $4500 now, than have to pay it again in January. I don't understand why they won't let me diet now & do the other tests at the end.

      1. NickelChip

Before you assume that the testing will take your full deductible, I would make some calls to your insurance. I have a 3k deductible and my portion of the bloodwork was nowhere close to that even though I assumed it would be. I think my copays ended up being around $1k or less for all the preliminary tests. And remember, you will have extensive bloodwork multiple times after surgery, so there may be no way to get it all into one calendar year. Also, you might look into financing options through your hospital. Mine allowed me to put the $3k I owed after the surgery (because yeah, that did max out my deductible for this year) on a 24-month no-interest payment plan. Depending on your options, it may be affordable enough that you can book your appointment sooner and get this whole thing going instead of having to wait almost a full year to have your surgery.
