Good Morning Nicole,

I love hearing about your 5 day pouch test  I've just been catching up on the posts

I have been down and out with Migraines grr I've had it since last Friday - 8 days now - I take my meds, sleep, wake up feeling better, meds wear off and back to square one!! Gined 2lbs - I wonder if the meds have anything to do with it? Following your lead to get back on track - when I'm tired & cranky and don't feel well I just grab any ol thing to eat - since i'm not banded yet i can eat a ton of it LOL. Going back to 1/2 c food every 3 hours - the only thing that works for me! since I felt a little better this morning I prepared a days worth of food so there won't be any excuses - got 7lbs to surgery goal!

Hope this pouch test helps works out the way you want it to.

I have done good so far today but even Soup is making my stomach sick right now. I might go three days with the liquids if I don't start to feel better.

Hiya Candi!

Here you go... a link...

Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test tells all about it.

I have not tried yet, but basically takes us back to square 1, post-op. I am interested to try it also. But not right after a fill, cause you are working the program to learn your body then. At least, that is how I see it. It does seem like a cool tool, to get back on track, so (u go girls) to you who do it!

Also, unfortunately it looks like I cannot make it this Thursday, to you all fill appt/class. I am bummed, but something came up and am already missing truly supporting each of you, possible to meet the infamous Dr. B & Robin, AND to ie meeting Riley woman, and more great ladies!

But pls know I will be thinking about each of you, all of your hard work, and working towards that sweet spot!!!

SOOO i gave up! My goodness!

I picked a horrible weekend to do it! I did the liquid days ok.. then comes today... Great until DINNER! Mikes like lets go out to eat, so we go to olive garden im ok get Soup and salad... SALAD! hello im not supposed to have salad! So i havent ate anything else, but i decided im gonna hold off until next week and im gonna do it different..

I was reading teh 5day test is a gastric test... So im gonna tweak it. I got pretty icky feeling on the liquid so im gonna do 2 days of liquids all morning afternoon then 1 full soft Protein for dinner.. then the other three days are ONLY protein.. no carbs or breads. Im debating on the fruit and vegies..

The tuna/egg salad btw is delicious!

Im sure eventually we will all have the perfect plateu breaker test for us. I think i woulda succeded if this weekend wasnt fathers day weekend..

Tomorrow we are going camping, lol so nothin woulda worked there either. I am seeing a diff with drinking just water.. also, im adding fruit to my Water jug. OH and we went to denios in roseville i spent 12 bucks and got probably 40 dollars in vegies and fruit!!! AMAZING! Lol im so lame.

Hey Nicole

I didn't stick with the liquids. Mostly because I have leftover chili I needed to eat before I made the Soup. I know it sounds crazy but with the economy and layoffs I am trying to put aside a part of my paycheck every month in savings just in case. So I felt guilty throwing it out ...............I did make soup last night though so I will have it for today. Salads is gonna be my problem.............

ALso I drank 1/2 crystal light and 1/2 Water. I am trying to totally switch over but it is making me feel like I am giving up diet coke again!! Trying to break myself in slowly.

I do know I have been way more thirsty with drinking water........maybe I don't drink enough.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

candy how is the fill can you tell a difference. I could the first two weeks but now I am back to eating just about anything...........well not bread or broccoli but I sorta think that is just a fluke since I can eat anything else in large amounts again..........well large for lap band like over 1 cup!!

Hope everyone is doing well!!

Tina..I can totally tell a difference.....I have somewhat vomited twice!! :) Eating to much.....I am backto loosing again too....I can just tell...its wierd.....I'm happy though...this AM I was 204 and able to wear a pair of jeans I've never been able to...size 2 at Lane Bryant.....so close to being in onderland!!!!

The vomiting thing sucked though.....it hurts...both times it was a piece of something....so like that last bite was just to much once it came up I was fine!!!

Trying to get more Water in...I am really looking forward to seeing everyone next Sat....is everyone coming?

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
