Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

So it's one week post op and I'm feeling almost 100%!

I've been on creamies for 4 or so days and I'm already tired of pureed food, but I make it better with chilli and guacamole lol! Good fats, high Protein and good calories.

So after 1 week, over 5 bags of Fluid, I am 224.1lbs! That's a loss of 10lbs in 1 week!

Holy Moly! That's amazing.

Everyone asks, "can you feel the difference?"

Can I? Hmm.. well I can't guzzle Water, but now after a week I can take bigger sips.

I can't walk too fast or I get dizzy and tired

My stomach feels fine, except a little itches because of the steri strips.

At 3 days post op I was off of the narcotics and I could sleep in my own bed on my tummy.

I love Maryland Style Crab Soup broth, it's delicious. I tried blending it, but the celery skins bug me for texture.

Blended Clam Chowder is alright too.

But heck, I'll eat anything to lose 10lbs a week! That's incredible. I am nearly the same weight I was in high school.

I remember because for diving I switched the numbers on my physical form from 220 to 200 lol! I was sooo embarassed of my weight but I was a great diver. I'd love to coach one of these days.

So this week Cynthia has been coming over to help so Pat could do some work and she could help with baby. Man is he bored, he is ready to jump around, run around, ride around and more.

I think he's depressed. Can babies be depressed?

Me on the other hand, I want to do too much. Just going to the store is exhausting. Not to mention no belly leverage for pushing the cart lol! Or opening things, cuz it hurts.

Last night I did a dumb thing, I jumped on the bed on my tummy! OUCH!!

But it's all good, Just stung a little lol.

Anyways, that's 1 week post op :(

I love your lady bug! Congrats on being half way!

Good Afternoon Bandster Queens!

No, Tina, I didnt' get a surgery date. He said this is my car and I'm driving it so as soon as I get to goal he will schedule everything. I am more determined now to get this weight off though! Just to be under 200 would be great - I have been over 200 for the last 3 years which really sucks because after I lost all that weight and got to 160 I promised myself I'd never get over 200 agian! You see how well that went - hahaha. Oh, and the nurse had me take my shoes off to weigh in yesterday... Hmmm.

Go Riley! What an accomplishment! And Christine - 1/2 way to goal is amazing. I wonder how you ladies keep the momentum going so long - hope I can do that too!

Pam - get ur but in that pool with your skinny new suit! :(

Candra you will be at goal soo soon!

Also a heads up, the Case Manager : Liz is who schedules your surgery, not the surgeon. I think it was Christine who went thru the same situation.. When is your psych appt??

So ladies, anyone ready for a get together? Hows next Friday looking for anyone?

Thanks, Candra. Feel great! How do we keep the momentum going? Well, that's the great thing about the band - at least for me long-term. When I am sick and tired of being good and all of this crud I have to do, and I just "give up," my band does't let me. I COULD go pig out on a bowl of sugar-laden soy ice cream I guess, but that just doesn't appeal. When I "pig out" now it is on hummus or pine nuts! I start to munch on something (last night it was tamari almonds, too soon after dinner) and after about 4 or 5 bites, my band reminds me that I don't want to be eating! It hurts; it's not the pleasant experience that I was seeking. I might be a bit pissy about it (last night I was pissy enough to just go to bed, and it was only 6:30!!!!), but it stops me! And in the morning I get up and I feel great because I've stayed on plan, and my momentum has not changed. It's an AMAZING tool! SO happy about it right now. NOT happy with my secretary's bowl of M&Ms sitting on his desk right next to me, though. He's a brat! I'm chosing to go for a walk :(

What i am motivated by is the weigh ins.. might be a good reason to join weight watchers, cause i live weigh in to weigh in... Plus, the fills.. i know that yeah right now i could probably eat and eat and eat and eat and eat since all restriction just disapeared during vacation lol.. but then i know in 3 weeks i get a fill.. and that could be the "sweet spot" so im excited...

HOLY CRAP GIRLS!!! I had the freakin' most fun today at Six Flags. I fit on all the rides EASY and went on tons of them! I finally had to take a break cuz I got really dizzy from going in circles for so long after not riding a ride for over 10 years! I had such a blast and can't wait to go back again! That was a huge huge huge non-scale victory for me!

Today I was 234.0 exactly and that's my pre-pregnancy weight, so I'm hoping to be ANYTHING under that by Friday morning to hit my birthday goal! YAY!

Congratulations Christine, I bet it's a good feeling!

I'm motivated by the way I feel, the new energy I have almost 24/7, the better sex I have with my hubby, the fun new clothes I can fit into and buy, the short term goals I make for myself so that I have something to look forward to every couple of months, the comments I get from my family and friends AND MORE! There's not much that DOESN'T keep me going! I'm so happy that I made this decision. I never second guessed it a single time and have had such a strong sense of knowing this was the best decision I could personally make for ME.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
