Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Recommended Posts

He said everyone is different & that was all I needed . . . that soon I would only be getting 1/2 cc. Maybe I am shooting myself in the foot losing 12 lbs between fills & I should be losing less! I work SO HARD for every pound . . . . it think I "deserve" to lose faster!!

But more than half of that was pre-op!! I was actually losing faster on the 1200 calorie diet. Does anyone else feel that way? Nicole, didn't you go to the same orientation I did & lose a whole bunch before surgery too?

God I'm STARVING right now, oh well I could not eat even if I HAD more breakfast! I was also feeling very weak on my walk-jog this morning, in fact I only did 3 of the 4 miles I try to do each morning. Maybe I'm not eating enough . . . . .

Riley yes we did i lost 44 lbs on preop. But most of it was within the first couple weeks i slowed way down in the end. But look at it this way you are way on track! You were banded a month before me and 9 lbs ahead. So totally on track!

Ask for another 1cc at ur next apt.

You are doing better-er!

I want to ask him to give me more, but he has already determined the amount that he is going to give me before he even walks into the room - the syringe already has 1cc in it, and that's it. I am just clueless about how he determines what he is going to give me. I guess I could ask again but I don't want to be a whiny nag . . . . or I guess I could just trust that he knows what he is doing, lol.

Ah, Riley, a voice of reason once more - LOL. No, I won't give up, i want this too bad! I did cut out all my carbs starting last week but have not been keeping on my water! Also, I haven't been logging everything I eat & I didn't have a scale so I've been comparing everything to my deck of cards - LOL However, my husband got me a fancy new digital scale today so I can weigh my foods accurately!!

Have you thought of taking the lakeville highway from Petaluma down to hwy 37 to Vallejo then over to hwy 80? this way you won't be doubling back from Richmond to Pinole and it may be faster!

Sorry to hear about your headache, Tina! I definately know how they can ruin your life!! I had one this morning - woke me up at 4:30 - I'm tellling you guys that Maxalt really does take the edge of so you can go on about your day! Just makes you a little sleepy & high feeling - LOL

Hey Nicole - your headache finally gone?

QUESTION: I recall them saying that you need to stop your birth control 3 weeks prior to surgery - I get the depo shot - anybody else get that? I just got my shot today and wondered since it lasts 3 months if I should have done that??

Hi Candra, Water yes very important! I wish I could follow my own advice on water, I do great about every other day and just plain forget the rest of the time.

I have thought about going down Lakeville to 37 . . . will trial-drive it earlier in the week, since I will be at Sears Point for a week anyways. It's about the same mileage either way, so it depends on where traffic is worse. Hwy 37 is my LEAST favorite road to travel on . . . I shall see. Thanks for the tip!

I have a Mirena in and they never wanted me to take it out - I asked both Dr. Park and Dr. Baggs - but it is only progesterin, no estrogen. I know that they want you to stop all hormonal methods, including the shot, so that's a really really good question! Kind of too late now though, isn't it . . . . be sure to tell them so they can deal with potential for blood clots in surgery & right after.

Thanks, Riley, my next shot is at the end of august so I'm sure I won't have a surgery date till after then & I won't get that shot! But i will definately reitterate to them that I'm on the shot - I did put it in my report that I have to give to Dr. fisher on the 3rd.

Water, water, water.. I got a big 3L just of arrowhead from safeway today & I just finished it - It helped today to have that one big jug!

Water, water, water.............I drink 120 or more a day!!!

Just got this really cool food log today, a notebook with a calorie counter in front. It has a place for measurements ever Sunday in addition to weight lost. Also has carb count. I think I am gonna do this for awhile until I start to lose again.......

I wonder what kind of a fill I will get?? Hopefull 2cc which is what I think is the usual. Don't know what they will decide. Hey do you think Robin has any say in how much your getting Riley?? I wonder about that I am gonna ask her!!

Tina: My hubby is in a wedding on Sunday in Malibu so the two of us are going down Thursdayand coming back on Monday. A mini vacation/adult time alone away from a cranky loving adorable make me pull my hair out toddler. LOl:D Sooo excited. Tryin to figure out what to do.

Candra.. You think 3oz is crazy.. now take ur measuring cup with something of supstance even ur meat and only measure up 1/4 c and let me know what u think:D That is the diet for 12 weeks after surgery... Also your depo shot im a lil worried about, be sure to remind them in the surgery suite so they can give u a med to retro act it... YOU can be in SURGERY in 2 months.. it happens i believe thats how it was for Candy... All depends on luck of appts.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
