cole83 1 Posted July 10, 2010 Well....went to my Psych appt yest and all went well. I was down 5lbs so only 7 more until I can set a date with the case manager. The psychologist said she could not find anything wrong with my brain if she tried! haahhah Its gonna be another hot one here....yuck! How did you all do with getting time off work and how long were you off? I don't know how to request it since I have no clue when it will be or for how long I need off. cukiemunstr 2 Posted July 10, 2010 I might as well post an update. I got scheduled for my orientation on 7/13/10 finally about 3 weeks ago. I have already started to get into diet mode becuase I need to be ready to go full force after the orientation. As I previously posted this is not my first orientation but it is my first with Richmond. The only question I have is what time did everyone leave for it? I am coming from Rancho Cordova so I am guessing I should probably leave at 4-4:30am so that it will give me about 3 hours. I will be there too Andrew! I can't tell you when to leave though I live in Novato and was so paranoid about being late I got a hotel room about a mile from Kaiser! Plus it's a good excuse to get away for a night! So, I guess I will see you there. I will be the chubby chick!
Lee 19 Posted July 10, 2010 I had my sleeve surgery on a Wednesday. I went back to work the following Tuesday but worked from home. I found myself working a couple of hours, then spacing out for an hour etc. I was back in my office the next Monday but worked 6 hours in the office and 2 hours at home. I wish I had taken 2 weeks off because I was tired and distracted a lot. That said, I'm 59 years old and probably don't have the energy that I did when I was 30. tamra. 6 Posted July 11, 2010 Just making my mark! back down to 220, but I have had a snacking day, TOM is here and you know how that sugar days are!! Back on track tomorrow, I see Baggs in the 23rd. Still not sure if I want a fill. Have a good weekend all!
Ali2010 1 Posted July 11, 2010 Becca, The way doc Park did it with me was she wrote me out for 6 weeks and then when I was ready to go back I just emailed her. I stayed out four weeks and I am glad I did. It gave me time to adjust to eating and take care of myself. I know some people go back in a week or so but I got full pay while I was out so I didn't need to rush. Personally, at least two weeks is needed and more if you can. I just told my supervisor and my HR dept that I was having surgery. The doc will give you paperwork for verification purposes. They really can't say much since its a medical condition. Lee 19 Posted July 11, 2010 Hi Ali, I could have taken all the time I needed/wanted but it was important to continue to run my department at work. It was a personal choice. I would not have gotten full pay while out. The advice you've given is great for anyone who's facing surgery. Remember that you don't have to tell your HR dept or boss what your surgery is. I had my gallbladder out in November, then Sleeve in February and both times just said I was having a medical procedure and needed the week off.
Lee 19 Posted July 11, 2010 Go Espana! I'm excited about the World Cup game later this morning. I've been watching all of the games. It was fun to watch France play while sitting at an outdoor bistro in France. Today I'm going to a party hosted by a friend of my son's. This is a girl who's soccer team he coached when she was in high school. Now she's all grown up and her family is hosting a Turkish BBQ. They were nice enough to invite Zach and I along with two other of his friends. I think I'll go to the farmer's market first and take along a big bowl of cherries so that there is a healthier alternative to chips, nuts etc. I'm eating great. Got in 6 miles of walking plus weight workout yesterday. I'm up to 100 crunches and hoping to get them in daily. It's so much easier with Zach home to motivate me and exercise with me. I'm still holding at 187 and facing down those 13 pounds that will make me "overweight" before my 6 month checkup. OH YES I CAN! What's everyone doing today? Have a fun day.

swrktp 1 Posted July 12, 2010 I took a month off. If I could have had six weeks I would have taken that too............I received full pay and have a really stressful job so I needed to time off to heal and relax. The first two weeks were essential the rest I was worn out but probably could have survived work. I do alot of traveling and lifting kids so I just didn't see going back to early since sitting in the car and driving made my port rub on the seatbelt and hurt. One of the positives ofthe surgery was looking forward to my month off. I said I was getting hernia surgery which I thought I was but turned out I didn't need it :-) I see Dr. Baggs on Thursday but gonna call Robin in the morning and figure out if I really need a fill or not. I leaning towards cancelling and trying again in a couple of weeks. I am still down 15 pounds, totally stuck and was hoping for another 5 before I get a fill. Nothing fun about being to tight I HATE PBing!!
Ali2010 1 Posted July 12, 2010 I'm in Nebraska visiting some family and I was looking at some pics that we took and there was a pic of me and I seriously did not know who I was.....lol. First time I saw a pic of myself that really showed a weight loss! It was a great feeling but also kinda weird! I have been doing pretty good while visiting, mostly just because I can't eat much but I have had a few treats here and there. I 'll be home tomorrow so it will be interesting to see my weight. Have a great week everyone!
cole83 1 Posted July 12, 2010 Thanks for the input guys. I am hoping to take like 2 weeks off. I have not yet told work about it cause I work with a bunch of non-supportive nurses! I had talked about it last year and they were so negative and harped on it. So...may have to use the hernia story too! hehe Hope everyone has a wonderful week...another hot one here! riley4183 0 Posted July 12, 2010 I was totally ready to go back to work at 1 week, although my first day back I was tired and only made it through a half-day before going home. Surgery on a Monday, back to work the next Monday. BUT. I don't lift anything at work and my commute is really short (driving wasn't fun!). Also, I told. I imagine it would be really difficult to go back to work with your little 2-oz cuppies of full liquids and not have anyone notice, LOL! For those who don't want to tell, I suggest the hernia story - which half the time is going to turn out to be true anyways! Happy Monday all my peeps!
