Ok - so I am a little freaked. I was all set to be going in in the morning first thing because Dr. Park said it was likely to be the first surgery, but when I called I got this women who said they have a new system and she was trying to figure out the time!! Then she came back on and said that I need to be there at 12:50pm and surgery would be about 1.5 hours later. I told her I had a card and a phone call on Saturday that said I had an appoint in Radiology for a barium swallow at 11:30 am, she said come in and do that first!!! I told her NO - you need it after surgery to make sure everything is OK. She said she would double check and call me back! I tried calling Bev but she isn't in on Monday and the girl answering the phone said just to show up when they told me and they would fix the radiology appt.

Oh, Pat - sorry you have this hickup at the last minute! I would email Dr. Park if I were you!

Been up since 4am have a headache but got to see Coco this afternoon - I really want to post for her but I don't want to steal her Mojo - just know that it's good news and Liz thinks we're idiots LOL

RANT: Bridezilla got these little jars that she wants to fill with personalized M&M"s for wedding favors - why does she wasnt me to come take all the jars out of their little individual bubble wraps, put the personalized ribbons on them and then put them back in the little bubble wraps so that the ribbon can get flattened and we have to take them all back out of their little wraps to put the M&M's in when she orders them closer to the wedding date to put them back in they little wraps AGAIN to transport them to the wedding just to take them back out to give them away??? Wouldn't it make sense to do the ribbons & M&M's at the same time? I'm so confused by all this- I don't think I'm a very good MOH. Or at least, I don't like being a MOH.

I finally know what it feels like to be banded! This morning I ate 1/4c of chicken salad and was DONE! for lunch 5 hours later I TRIED to have another 1/4C but could only manage two bites before it got stuck in my throat and I was done again. too full to even drink my Water. I LOVE THIS FRIGGIN THING!

Candra - you are a great MOH - you are just too logical for Bridzilla!!! Great job on no chocolate. So what is the MoM suppose to do? It made my stomach rumble and feel funny but nothing else. Took it at 9:30 this morning.

Oh Pat, that's MUCH better! You're going to do great tomorrow!'

Where is that darn sweet Nicole? I want to hear her Kaiser update from today.

I'm worried about weighing in tomorrow with Bev because I was up a pound for no reason this morning. I'm going down to the gym to sweat it off. I'm going to stay optimistic!

Candra, how cool that you're feeling your restriction. It's great to hear you so happy with your band.

Coco- I'm excited for your news, and I don't even know what it is yet! How cool that you had your cm appt today though! Woohoo!

Candra- I'm doing The Body Fit Challenge at my gym (CalFit). On Saturday Angel talked about it, she won at her gym the last time they did it. The top male and female from all the clubs wins $500 cash, a mountain bike or a year's membership. I start Feb 13. I'm excited!

Maria- of course we missed you! Come with next time!

Candra - thanks for advising to contact Dr. Park. I emailed her and she had the Operating Room Manager call me. She also emailed me back and apologized for the confusion. Plus by being in contact with both of them, I don't have to be there at 6 am - not until 6:20. Ok and the MoM is now working!!!!

That's great you are the first surgery in the morning Pat - the surgeon will be well rested. Make sure someone posts tomorrow after you are done so we know all went well.

That's great Candra that you finally feel restriction. And that you didn't want chocolate. I think I will always want chocolate so that is why there can't be any around.

Ok now some of us are feeling left out - a few of you know CoCo's news and have told us that you know - where the heck is she?

I had Cheerios for dinner after making Boca Burgers for two kids and a hamburger patty for the other one - I was outside on the back porch barbequeing in my nightgown, coat, socks and crocs - boy I was looking sexy. not. Silly son wanted his burger grilled instead of fried so other son had his Boca grilled, but little daughter wanted her Boca fried in the house. I think they are spoiled. After all that I just wanted to sit down and finish reading the Sunday paper and get on line.

Pat I remember Dr P came running in late...she had on her high heel sandals, dressed really cute she even still had her purse. She talked to me about the surgery and then said I'll meet you back there. about 15 min later when I went in the OR she came right in and I told her boy you sure are quick. Evidently she always starts right at 8am. I'll be thinking of you.

FIrst surgery is the best!!

So what is this with Liz thinking we are idiots. Geez what is up with that. She seems to stress that to everyone that goes in. Now that I think back she did the same thing with me to at my CM appointment.

Hey Nicole did you ever get that name of the surgeon in sacramento that will do fills?? I wanted to call them to find out what is the deal with insurance and records and all the details. I talked to Robin today and without Kaiser I won't be able to get fills. I am only at 3.5 and no fill unless I am down 12 pounds in a month. After that with layoffs and all...........wellI am trying to figure out if I go COBRA until I get a decent fill or if it is cheaper for me to pay for my fills without insurance.

Darn I really wanted a good fill so I could go a few months without having to worry about all this......

Oh Robin called today and left a message. Hmmm............not sure why but she said would call tomorrow again. I am gonna let her know about the layoffs and that I might not be with Kaiser long term. I know it doesn't change things I am a liability to them right now and if I end up with to much of a fill and have to get some removed...........makes them all look bad.

My other options is to just get fills i Sacramento if I can and pay for them., THan no more long drives and co pays for nothing.................

Well see what Robin says. Still bugs me that Kaiser talks dirt about clients and our forum.................makes me feel weird about talking to much and being to open!! I know EVERYTHING we say goes into their notes!! LOL

Tamra, call CoCo and tell her to come post already. I can't wait to hear when her surgery date is. I'm so anxious to hear how far out they're scheduling surgery. I wanna jump up and down with her in excitement!

Ok work won't let me go on the 26th for my fill appointment unless I take vacation time. My FMLA is used up now.........Hmmmm.........I think I am gonna try to find someone in town to do my fills than I can go over during my lunch and no more time off.

THis is to darn complicated.................I wonder if Kaiser would let me get fills in town or if I have to go to RIchmond??

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
