Tina - how can they expect you not to worry - good grief.

I'm trying to decide whether to pull money from my life insurance to pay off my credit card - but I believe it will be taxable - guess I need to figure out if the taxes would be more than the interest I would pay over the next year - not sure what else to do. I keep thinking I should get a second job, but I don't know how I would do that with three kids and a full time job already.

I want chocolate - luckily there is none in the house and I am not going anywhere today expect to pick up kids. Now is the time to use my resistance muscle.

YAY Tamra! I will be down there a little before 2, maybe I can see you on yer way out . . . .

Tina - and so it goes again, just when we thought it was safe to pay the bills . . we have an all-staff meeting a week from today to hear how many mid-year layoffs we'll have at this county before June. sigh . . . .

Hey all - just touching base! I got that text from Tamra at 6:40 am about the power being out LOL she was NOT happy. So what's the word? - right now she's snuggling in my comfy green chair

$$$$ so that is my biggest issue right now too - it is what is keeping me awake at night (and raiding the kitchen at 3 a.m.!) But it is what it is - the way I see it we can only go up from here

TAMRA HOW ARE YOU SISTER - I KNOW YOUR SURGERY GOT DELAYED JUST A TAD BUT YOU SHOULD BE UP & RUNNING SOON

You know.... I never met the elephant in the room! I had no pressure or tightness in my chest at all after surgery - could it be because I had so little Fluid put in at surgery - I have an appt with Doc Who tomorrow so we shall see if I get a fill.

Happy Birthday Ash - hope it's a good one!

OMg You WILL get a fill tomorrow~!!! You deserve it for sure!!! I called into Richmond today to see how far out they are scheduling CM appoointments because my 2 weeks is up on Monday for my test so I am hoping it is in any day now. Sara said they are pretty much right away so I am hoping to get in next week. OMG I cant wait. I am back on track and ready for her... I asked how far out surgery dates are and she said Feb/march so Im crossing my fingers to not be too far passed to Pat and Tamra!!!!

I didn't feel the elephant on my chest either - the only Fluid I had in my band after surgery was what they primed it with and Dr Im said it was not measurable - so that means none. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Has anyone heard from Tamra since she got home?

Ash, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Tamra, wake up and come talk to us!

Nicole, I'm so happy to read that the surgeries are being scheduled in Feb/March. I should be able to get weighed next week, then call for a Liz appt.

Mo... I didn't make it to Kaiser tonight. Weather is too bad and I was starving so decided to come home to make dinner and chill.

Happy Birthday Ash!!

Ah how is Tamra??? anyone know???

I am warm and toasty at home loving it. I got soaked from my car to the office and was wet all day. My hair was soaked and went all wild and wavey but what can ya do!! LOL. It was a crazy day. My patio chairs were flying around the yard and even a cat box went flying by and hit my sliding glass door. My peach tree has some plastic bags hanging from it that must have flown there. I don't think I like wind.......rain yep but not the wind sorry scary. Power poles down here and a few trees went down.....nice and calm tonight!!!

HERE I AM!!! SORE THROAT AND ALL. LOL!!

I am doing fine, some pain under my left boob which Nicole and Candra have told me is fine.

So the power came back on around 730. I was preped and in with Baggs by 8 am. I was scared, I cried in the surgery room of course....but I was out so fast I dont remember much.

I was also down to 247.3 this morning yay! everyone was so nice. When I woke up, I had the elephant on my chest big time, I was weezing for air, they had to turn the oxygen back on full blast for me. When it came time for the barium swollow I was SO SICK TO MY STOMACH I was carrying around a little tub in case I threw up. They gave me lots of medicines to help me through out the day, and I was released at 2 pm.

My inciscions are NICE! they look good! Baggs told me someone told him I was worried and that I would be fine *wink wink tina*

I have a pic of me before I went in with Baggs I will post later.

I have only had Water and gas x today plus the liquid vicadin. I have walked a few times and it made me burp which was nice.

I am gonna sip some chicken broth, I will bbl!!!

Thank you so much everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AH burping feels wonderful!!

I don't know if I told Dr. Baggs that you were worried but I did tell him you hoped he would get some sleep!! THat is when he said he was on call but would get some sleep!! LOL. He is to funny............he knows we all know each other but he can't say anything!! He just smiled at me and I told him "I know, I know HIPPA rules" but we both knew who we were talking about............Of course he had to make a comment. He laughed about the nail question though!! He thought that was funny!!

So glad it went well. Walking sure helps and the more burp and ...........ur um.........let it come out other ways the better it gets!!

So you have nice incisions?? Is that what he thought you were worried about??

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
