Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Recommended Posts

Monique - I'm with you - I haven't been on for a few days and so much to catch up on.

Maria - hang in there. I do remember Jewel and Candra saying the pain med was making them crazy after a few days and one of them switched to liquid tylenol. You seem to being doing well following the plan for liquids, etc. It helps so much to read what you are going through, since I think I might be next.

Lee and Ash - It was me who was reading on this site the "Complications" thread. It freaked me out a little, but I agree with Riley that from what I read most of the problems seem to come from being banded in Mexico. I feel very secure knowing how highly rated Richmond Kaiser is. I am with you about wanting to be as well informed as possible - both the good and the bad. I do much better when I have realistic expectations.

Riley - WOO HOO on the dress and fitting easily into a size 10. That my goal and to think I could be there next year is awesome. You are my inspiration!

Liz and Nicolie - you sound like you are doing great - with your eating and the exercise. I have been exercising on the weekend, but have not been able to get myself in a routine during the week. I need a swift kick!

Well ladies time for nite nite - have a busy day tomorrow. We are going to my sister's ranch up north to pick olives. It is suppose to be a nice warm 40 degrees! I'll check back with everyone on Sunday.

Good Morning!

I am committing to get my butt down into the gym and onto the bike and treadmill today. I am going to hold off on weights until I return from vacation. I don't want to risk anything gallbladder surgery related before leaving on Tuesday.

Do any of you personally know anyone that had the Vertical Sleeve surgery? Has anyone been on this tread in the past that chose that surgery? I'm very curious about it and researching it. Any help would be appreciated.

I hope you're all doing well this morning. Riley, how many times have you tried on that dress since it arrived?

Morning everyone!!

Lee - The new addicting place is here in Concord, are you familar with this area? Its next to the Brenden movie theater on Concord Ave.

Well, scale this morning said : 259.3 whoo hooo!! then of course got on my wii for clarification and that thing told me 257.7 lol so I am going with the 259.3 today, since apparently I am somewhere in there....yessss!!! less then 10 lbs till goal!!!

My cobra hasn't turned on yet, which is a good thing. I am thinking it will start Dec 1, which means as soon as it's on, hopefully I will be @ goal weight, and go straight to kaiser to record that weight!!

yay!!!! I am kicking butt this time!!

I just counted 22 pairs of jeans that I have here @ home that I have to try on today . . . . ugh. Most of them are probably WAY too small yet, but sometimes clothes get by me when I'm not looking so I'm going to try them and sort them into piles - can zip but not breathe; can pull up over butt but not zip; can pull halfway up thighs, and 'oh hell no.'

I know I have to have a slice of pizza...1

Who says you have to? Plan ahead and eat before you go. Drink your Water or crystal light or Decaf tea or whatever. Look at your kid and remember why you're doing this. You don't have to eat something that's not on the plan.

Stay strong! You can do it!

Still too sick to exercise but feeling better. I missed 3 days of work last week. I've never missed 3 days of work because I was sick. Lame. I'm thinking of hopping on the stationary bike today, everything online says it's okay to exercise a little, and I need to do something. I'm tired of this plateau. I want to see that scale drop already! I want my band already!

Riley- Congrats on the smokin' dress and the eye lift! That's awesome!

Candra- Maybe we can do a sisterhood of the traveling girdle too. lol. Have you tried Turbo Jam? I know Tamra and I both love it. It's a really good workout too.

Tamra-You go girl....I am so very proud of you! Do you belong to 24 Hour??? We should meet and go to Zumba together. I think SunValley has a class on Tuesday night. Want to go???

Riley and Heather-you two are so very right. I DO NOT HAVE TO EAT THAT DANG PIZZA! I may have a tiny bit of salad and the toppings. Thanks for the suggestion Riley. I have to stay on track... I think I'm up 1lb since starting the Stage IV diet and I need to kick the scale in the other direction. Plus, I see Dr Fisher on Monday at 11:30AM...I have to do well this weekend.

LapBand Card-well the new card came in 2 days...Record time. I am so happy. I will use it tomorrow night at Benihanas....I already have my meal planned. I'm getting the child's chicken plate...Very lean and will probably just eat the meat and broth.... Wish me luck...I plan to be at 205lbs by Monday Morning!!!!!!

205lbs and soon ONEDERLAND....HERE I COME!!!

LOL - Monique, you are definitely crazy, but you'll be able to pull this off. Great on you for deciding not to eat the pizza. I always tell myself I can have it tomorrow if I still really really want it. Generally by tomorrow I've moved on to something else. Congrats on your daughter being 6!

Tamra, I know exactly where you're talking about in Concord. You're kicking butt on your food intake. Keep it up and you're going to have that surgery scheduled before you know it.

To all the post-ops here. Thanks for writing all of your experiences on here. It's great to visualize the process and know what works, and what doesn't work.

I had a strange thing happen yesterday. I started smelling cigarette smoke in my apt. I'm on a 10th floor and wondered if it was coming in through the heating vents. In the afternoon I got a headache. At night I started smelling faint burning rubber smell. So weird, right? This morning I woke up with the headache and realized that all those weird smells are coming from me. And yes, I've showered so quit thinking those nasty thoughts! I still have the headache, but that didn't stop me from eating. Don't know what's going on, but I'm feeling less than optimal so drinking lots of herbal tea. Maybe I'll grab a nap.

Food so far today

2 eggs

1 spoon sour cream and salsa mix

3 oz lean ground beef

dinner - friend coming over

NY strip steak and green Beans if I can eat

I'm a little jealous of all you gym goers doing it together. I have a full gym downstairs and can't afford to belong two places so I'm stuck motivating myself.

I hope you're all having a fun day!

Lee - Where do you live that your on the 10th floor, what city?

Monique - I belong to 24, but I have a "one" gym membership and only use the Martinez one, but I can always change it. Let me know how Pump it up is, thought about a party there for my girl but she's still really small.....

Candra - yes try Turbo Jam, it's funnnnnnnnn

Hi to everyone else!

Ok question of the day... Why did you NOT chose Vertical Sleeve, and if you have been banded, how long have you had it it?

Tamra, I live in Oakland! I love it here. I've been here since 1982 when I moved from back east.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
