Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Recommended Posts

Pat Pat Pat! You need to hang with us bandsters more :-) Why have a part of you removed if the band will do it for you? God put it there for a reason . . . . for our friends who were 200 lbs overweight, I agree that RNY was their best bet. Or if they have diabetes . . . but for BMIs of 42 or less, the Band is the way to go - I firmly believe that. It was the perfect solution for me.

THAT SAID - we will support you no matter what you do! I would have considered the sleeve if they had offfered it while I was going through.

GoOd MoRnInG LaDiEs!!!!

~ Dr. Fisher gave Nicolie and I the packet on the sleeve at the end of our appt. We were not sure why and though... oh god another choice for us and why???

Well after reviewing it... I think probably because it is less invasive that bypass becuase there is no rerouting. i think he was listening to me when I said I do not want to be malnurished and am concerned if I have a pregnancy later ( which Kaiser pretty much acts like that is not a good idea after any of these surgeries- He told us we should lose 50 lbs and give ourselves a decade to have kids and come back for surg later! ahhhhh I am tired of this battle....But after the discussion I realize its becuase he wants us informed and know our options...k I am rambling) I told him I felt Gastic was so Invasive and I am not comfortable with rerouting my insides! I do have acid reflux and I do not want to live a life with a burning gut and throat. The packet really had all the info we all have read about diet and complications with gastric surg, it basically had the diagram and the overview of what the sleeve is. No more info than we know. No why as to why we should do it,No reason for why they do this now too... nothing. I want lap band.

Hey All,

Tina so sorry you were sick but nice to hear from you so much while you're home

Problems with the band: NOT ENOUGH FLUID! Seriously, in the beginning it's hard because there is barely any Fluid in it and it's like it's not even there but once you heal from surgery and start to get your fills it will be so perfect. Just look at Jane! She is where we will all be one day!!!!!!!

I messed up so bad yesterday! My cousin is here from New Mexico and she's staying at our Nona's house. Nona passed away last January so in her honor, my cousin, Denise, decided to make her macaroni & gravy - why I ask you since I specifically told her that I CAN'T EAT CARBS. So, that what i ate for dinner last night along with rosemary & olive oil bread - and I was able to eat a whole bowl of it... Then, traditionally, it's a shot of whiskey chased with a sees chocolate. Well, I don't drink so I skipped the shot but can somebody then explain to me why I needed the chocolate chaser??? Hmmmm? Not a good night.

Hi Ladies!

I have an apointment for the orientation in 20 days, so I called them to ask why I was sent to the Fremont Kaiser Bariatric department and not Richmond and they said it is becasue I am in their referal area since I live near the Antioch Kaiser and my PCP is in Antioch Kaiser. So I posted a seperate thread looking for people who have been banded by the Fremont Kaiser WL center. I have heard that they do not like to let their patients get the band but rather RYN. I am dead set on the band. Anyone know of how this might go?

Ash, all the Docs push RNY - because you can NOT fail at losing the weight. However, you can fail at keeping it off with RNY and there's not going to get a fill LOL. Even Richmond pushes RNY as the first option. You call the shots so don't worry about it! You're on the band wagon girl.... Congrats!

Canolie - great - where do you want me to meet you on the 14th? What time. I'll send you a PM with my cell phone number . I'm excited.

I'm eating chicken salad for lunch right now and it doesn't like me - think I ate it too fast.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
