Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

popsicles and Jello here too!! Other than that I didn't want anything to eat.......................mostly slept all day the first few days and ate a bite or two when I got up. Truthfully I was to sore to wanna get to the frig so that deterred my eating too..........getting up and down was a pain so I tried to stay put as much as possible...

Hi Ladies - I've been away for a few days - busy at work and not feeling great - my son has the flu. Good news - down some more. scales are weird: I weighed myself Thurday in birthday suit = 242; then weighed after Breakfast and with my clothes so I could compare when I went to Kaiser = 246.5 WTF that much in an hour! So I drove to Kaiser kind of bummed that I didn't think they would show any loss or maybe even a gain cause I think their scale is always about 3 - 5 lbs more. I was 10 min late so thought they might not take me, but Dr. Schnurr did. And I weighed 244.8! So I'm taking it!

Candra - OK forget the presidents! The best question has to How Many People are In this Room? (I almost flunked the presidents - practiced with my husband in am and reversed Reagon and Carter, so when she started asking me I was nervous - I got Obama ok, then couldn't remember Bush's first name LOL - so I said "President Bush" - nice recovery, then because I messed up on Carter in the morning instead of saying Clinton, I started to say Carter!) Anyway I did pass finally.

1200 Cal is hard - had dental work yesterday and had to eat soft stuff - had a really bad craving for ice cream. Had cottage cheese and applesauce instead - but it wasn' the same.

Nicole - great to hear from you. So glad you are making progress - we are routing for you.

Tina - layoffs and stuff are the pits - it just messes with you. I'm in the private sector, but we've been doing cuts almost every year - it really keeps people on the edge - always uneasy. Your outlook sounds good. You do awesome work for the kids.

Monique - congratulations -we are routing for you. Keep in touch.

Pam - Nate is off taking the PSATs - wouldn't let me make him a good breakfast. I agree with Heather that celebrating the 13th may be your last teen celebration - mine drives me nuts - so stubborn! They do come out of it eventually - my 22 year old is sane again!

Jess - how are you? Did you go back to work this week or is it next week? It sounds like it is getting harder.

Riley - if you are skiing hope it is great - miss you!

Beatriz - stay connected to this site - it is a wealth of real info and great support.

Have a great day everyone - will check back later.

Hello Wantshealth.

You and I started out at the same weight!! Same BMI too. YOu must be about 5'5 or 5'6 right?? Exciting your on your way.

Yep you said it. Work is uneasy. Perfect word. Fits exactly.

More layoffs will be announced on Tuesday this week I think. Forloughs or layoffs on the talble. I don't know what they decide but I think forloughs might be better.

But like Jes said I have no control over what happens.....

Well I am home with the flu today. I was thinking the band was being picky but after two days of nothing settling right I have decided I have the flu...........Hoping it gets better I don't went to slip my band. Just nothing staying down so I am giving up and going back to fluids for a couple of day........yuck, yuck yuck!! But at least it is the weekend so I can rest and sleep it off!!

Have a great weekend all!!

My son is almost done with his PSAT test - he had poptarts for breakfast. My 15 yr old son has decided he doesn't eat meat now - no meat, no fish, but will eat dairy products and eggs.

I had cheezits for breakfast, then went to Curves and had Peanut Butter and crackers and cheetos for lunch - apparently I am on a carb feast. We are heading out to Discovery Kingdom after we pick Taylor up at 12:30 - made sandwiches for the kids to eat on the way. I am taking my book to read while waiting - Taran now says she is too scared to go to Fright Fest - I assured her I will take her away from the scary part of the park.

I'll be back on tomorrow.

Hey everyone I'm trying to get back on the wagon starting today. My eating has really been off track. I'm eating more than 1/4 or 1/2 cup. I decided I need to go back to my salads. When did everyone else start on salads? I love them and it keeps me in check.

Tina, sorry you got the flu, make sure you try and get the liquids in. I know all too well about furloughs. We started ours in September, and I can see the difference on my paycheck. But like you said at least I have a job. It's hard out there I know quite a few people who have been laid off recently.

Yea, Pat passed her psych eval :) no padded cell for you LOL

Candra, I can't believe your weight loss. just all of a sudden. I heard it happens like that so I'm hopping something will happen for me soon. I still weight the same as I did 2 1/2 weeks ago. So frustrating.

Have fun at fright fest Pam, it's the perfect day for that.

I'm off to a concert a little later with babysista hopefully we behave.

Congrats Monique - Listen to Jes - sugar free popsicles and Jello was all I had - all I wanted. Remember to take your Milk of Magnesia by 10am - good thing you got the day off. You need to stay by the bathroom.

Seriously - Doc Fisher is the best! He doesn't have Baggs sense of humore but he is straight forward and does an excellent job. My incisions are thin and small - I had zero gas pain. I took zero lortab and was up and running by the 3rd day - first day I was sleepy from anesthesia but not in any pain - didn't get any pain meds in the hospital before I left either. I wasnt in pain. I walked a few laps around the house when I got home - the key really is walking. the next day was the worst for pain. I felt like I had done way too many crunches in the gym. Just sore muscles was it but still not enough to require pain meds or to keep med down - was doing my best to walk as much as possible. the day after that I was already feeling better went shopping and did all kinds of things and it got better & better each day.

Don't go back to work if you don't have to. sitting up in the same position is hard on that port. It's the muscle it's attached to that hurts and I was swollen for about 4 weeks. Oh, and I only had a slight gas pain in my right shoulder the day of surgery and it was gone by the next morning.

I AM REPEATING MYSELF, I KNOW! It's just so exciting.

Jes, I only lost the weight after I went back to my 4 mini Protein meals. I can't do the 3 meals per day - I have to be on a schedule so my body knows it's coming. I eat at 9, 12, 3 & 6 on most days - once in a while, like yesterday - I go haywire. i did finally get my pintos & cheese from taco bell yesterday  Oh, and I snacked on trail mix last night. sometimes I just feel so hungry! I hope I get this fill on Wednesday and then it will be better. You go back to work tomorrow?

Can I get a head count of who will be at the meeting Saturday?

Oh, Analynn, If i get the go ahead from Doc Fisher on Wednesday then I want to come to the class with you.

Riley - you're probably sittin in traffic on your way home now. Hope you had a great time

Pammie - how does your son think he did on his test. did you enjoy six flags? I've never been to a fright night there and I've lived in vallejo since 1998 - WTF?

Good afternoon all!

I just returned from costco and it was murder remembering not to buy all the enticing foods on display. I'm not going to be able to eat them...Duh???

I still can't believe that my surgery is in 2 days.

Thanks for the well wishes and warm thoughts.

I did get my Flintstone Complete Vitamins from there and a rotisserie chicken. Need the Protein and the baby loves it! I am going to my favorite restaurant this evening and can't wait. Yes, I'm having a last meal. It will be garlic crab and garlic noodles from Thanh Long's Restaurant in San Francisco. My husband, my sister whose expecting her first child on 10/25 and myself. Yes, she's tagging along and we don't mind. We are considering this both of our last meals. I plan to eat it all.

I am going to do the Milk of Mag...two days in a row...Tomorrow and Tuesday-the day of the surgery.

Wish me luck!!!

Question, is anyone going to the Richmond support group meeting on Wednesday night??? If, and only if...I'm feeling up to it. I may go. I think it would be great to see some of you and for others to see someone who is 1 day post-op!!!!

later.................................

Dudettes! No skiing yet; not enough snow. No, I have been local, just kind of busy . . . with, well, OK if you have to know - with a BOY! Yeah yeah yeah, it's all about me and I'm not going to let a boy into my life - oh well, I guess I lied. I gave myself a year, started Nov. 4th of 2008 and I did not see anyone until October 2009 so uhm . . . . yeah I lasted my year, esp. since I had not dated for a few months before my Nov. 4th orientation. So yeah, I been busy :):thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

The bad news is, I an not on plan, not doing my morning exercise, I was an excercise addict and now the pendulum is swinging too far back the other way, but it will even out and I will find balance! Meantime, I weight the same now as I did at my last fill . . .yikes. But I have been eating SO MANY CARBS that I'm pretty sure I will drop the 5 again in a week when I stop the carbs again (which I mean to do every day - it just never seems to work out!) so I am NOT going to change that ticker!! STEP AWAY from the ticker.

Going out for another 2 miles now - got to do it while I am feeling even a LITTLE bit motivated :-)

Woo hoo - you go Riley. I'm about ready to give up in that department.

Fright Fest was fun for my boys, scary for my daughter. The boys went into the haunted houses and watched the funeral procession. I kept Taran as far away from it as I could. We got there around 2:30 and left at 7:30- it was really crowded. I at the cheese and sauce off of two pieces of pizza for dinner and had one bite of crust.

My son thinks he did okay on the PSAT - we will see when the results come in.

I met with four ladies I used to work with for lunch last Thursday and we had a waitress take a pic of us - egads I still look fat. I was standing next to my friend who had bypass and lost 170 lbs since Mar 08. Guess I should have stood on the other end of the group. I need to get Spanx or something to hold this jiggle tummy in after seeing that picture. :{

Pammie - you're too funny. You can't compare yourself to anybody else and believe me, you don't look fat! I have yet to see you look fat!

Monique - NO MILK OF MAGNESIA THE DAY OF SURGERY! Take it Monday Morning by 10am - eat all you want till 6pm, you can have only Clear Liquids from 6pm till midnight. After midnight you can not have anything till after surgery! Even then it's only clear liquids for the first 3 days (but u won't want anything) - with the exception of the barium swallow - which they will try to get you to drink from a straw and we all know we can't do that! So no Straw!

tomorrow is back to work day for me. ugh!! We went up to cache creek this morning to see if I could take a few more months off but no luck LOL

I've already packed up my lunch, chicken salad in little containers so I should be on program.

Monique listen to Candra, no MOM on the day of surgery, take it by 10am tomorrow Monday and nothing after 6pm. Don't forget otherwise they can reschedule you and I'm sure you don't want that. Thang Longs is the perfect last meal. I went ghetto and had beer and pizza. LOL Oh and I know I did not feel like going anywhere the day after much less put underwear on so you will be doing big things if you go to that support group on wednesday.

Riley, hopefully you got your excercise in some other way  No worries about the carbs you probably need your energy. I'm going to follow you this week NO CARBS!!! Seriously I'm glad you were enjoying yourself.

Candra I'm also going to try the 4 meals. I sure hope you get a fill because I sure need one....

So who is having aunt flow more than once a month? Is this normal post band????

(sorry John)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
