Hi Beatriz, welcome to our group. Congratulations! You are feeling what everyone has felt. All these feeling will go away once you are banded. You should go back through some of the earlier posts and see what others went through. Speaking for myself I think it;s the best thing that I've ever done. Actually it's probably one of the first things I've ever done, well stuck to. Feel free to ask anything on your mind. This is a great group of gals who have already been where you are and there are quite a few trying to get where you are.

Analynn - You are doin' fine. Your exercise is awesome - you, Jess and Riley are so great at keeping at it. (I've done better this week, but nothing like you champions.) Listen, we are going to make it. I'm trying to take things 1 day at a time and just stick to the program - it will come off. (I hoping for a good number tomorrow at my psych appt.) Hang in.

Chris - Congratulations. He or she is so cute. You seem to be doing great with the band and unfill. You are another reason why the band make so much sense.

Pam - this is from a day or so ago, but WOW - your 7th grader is taking the PSATs. What a great smart kid! My son is a Junior and taking for the first time. You seem to be doing well with your eating - I am amazed by how little you eat!

Conolie - congrats on your orientation date. I was really excited and nervous, and then as it got closer I just wanted to get started (but didn't because I was close to the cut off BMI).

Beatriz - congrats on your surgery date. I relate on being nervous - I already am and don't have a date yet! Welcome - this is a good group.

Candra - hang in, sound like it is tough. I am really trying to stay away from the carbs - its hard but it helps.

Riley - where are you? How's it going?

ok here's my meals for today....went to brunch this morning and got 2 tamales and Beans, I've been eating all day. Only ate the meat out of the tamales and the beans. Probably more than what I was supposed to have over the course of a day. Oh almost forgot. I went crazy at the restaurant chips and salsa. I ate those things like I didn't even have a band.

Candra when I talked to Robin she told me to go ahead and do my elliptical, just no crunches, bending or lifting. Like you said you haven't missed anything. I don't think I needed to talk to her.

Analynn don't stress too much you are doing fine. Are you getting your Water in? It helps

Pam sounds like you are back on track with your meatballs LOL. btw: your kids are darling.

John I don't think I'll be able to make the next few meetings either. Hopefully we can get a play date that can work for the group so we can at least see each other.

No worries Pat I'm sure the psych appt will go fine.

Pat - my son is in 8th grade - he turns 13 today, but yes he is smart - thanks. My 10th grader took the PSAT yesterday at school and said it was long, but not hard. He can take the Exit Exam this year and then if he passes it he doesn't have to worry about it.

Today is my Friday - I woke up at 4:23 am today when the smoke alarm in my daughter's room decided it needed a battery change - darn beeping - scared my dog and I couldn't get the battery thing opened so I just took my shower and was ready to go at 5 am. I will feel it this afternoon.

I had marble jack cheese and saltine crackers for Breakfast - need to get my act together and plan better.

Morning all....

Jes, you aren't going next Saturday???

Beatriz - Welcome - and no freaking out! It's actually quite simple and, for the most part, painless. The hard part is sticking to the post diet (which I have not done). The first two weeks were a piece of cake - have no desire to eat but after that, your hunger will return and sticking to fluids and mushies were impossible for me LOL. You can go back to September 14th on here - that was my band date and see all the crud I was talking LOL

John, will miss you at the meetings - I was really looking forward to meeting your wife. Keep us updated, though, on your surgery & things!!

Donna, my girl - good to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing you next weekend.

Babysista - I see you lurkin down there... What's up? give us the update on your progress!

Pammie - Doesn't look like anybody is available on saturday but you will be here in the V so maybe we can hook up for lunch - I know you all don't want to actually eat at six flags do ya?? Might be too much of a hassle but just a thought. Gotta go to bridezilla's daughters soccer game at 9 and depending on how long the game is... We'll talk!

April - been thinking about you - will you be there Saturday, the 24th??

Jes - your port site still sore? Mine is alot more sore then I expected it to be still. Tamales sound so good!

So, for the first time I think I may have had the onset of a PB. I had a 2 small pieces of Talapia (bout 1/2c) for dinner but was still hungry so I had 1/4 of an avacado and was still hungry so I put together 1/2c broccoli and after a few bites, all of a sudden I felt like something was stuck in my throat! I opened my mounth to caugh and the broccoli & avacado came right back out! I didn't feel full or anything like that but then the hickups started. About 30 min later my tummy was growling so I waited another 15 min then had some hot tea - was fine after that but it was a strange experience. I think my lower tummy is calling all the shots but my upper tummy - above the band - isn't agreeing with any of it LOL

Ok, Vets - is this normal?

Candra - yes that is a PB - what there isn't room for reguritates back up. The hiccup part tells me I am full, but if it keeps on along with the gurgles I know it is coming back up eventually.

We will probably eat lunch on the way as his test won't be over until noon. I'll give you a call during the day while I am there sitting around and we can at least chat.

I am meeting some old friends I used to work with for lunch at 1:30 - too freaking late for lunch for me - I just drank a Protein Drink. I will have Soup or something tiny - I have to leave at 2:45 to pick up my daughter anyway. One of the ladies I am meeting had bypass surgery in SSF 18 mths ago - she has lost about 140 lbs. I have never seen her in pants and I have known her 18 years - she said she is wearing pants today.

I feel like taking my kids out to eat for my son's birthday - you only become a teenager once in your life - maybe I will see if my teacher friend wants to join us.

Yep that was a PB candra!! I can't eat broccoli at all just doesn't work. Wait until you get more of a fill!! LOL.

I am also realizing I need to stop with the bread again. It is back to bread not working again. 5.5 cc's is a great fill for me I guess!! I am way to full right now.........I barely ate this morning.

My band is really tight the last couple of days with TOM and all. I don't know if it will loosen after but if not I DON'T want a fill this month. I will wait until next week to decide but I don't want to get to tight again.

Well best wishes to all!! Welcome beatrice. Everyone is right you'll be fine. Worrying before hand was much worse than the actual surgery for me...............all that worrying for nothing!! :-) But I do tend to be a worrier anyway. I find I worry about stuff I can't really control and it stresses me out. Seriously it was nothing like I imagined..............

So, you all talk of the 'warning' signs before you PB, like you know better than to eat that last bite but seriously, I felt nothing! What is that allabout

once you have some restriction you will get the warning signs. For now you might try just eating your allowed quantity of food and waiting a while for you brain to notice if you are full. Or maybe it was just the broccoli that didn't agree with your band. I don't eat broccoli at all.

Yea broccoli gives me trouble even when I didn't have a great fill...........

Yea Candra. I have to pause between each bite and sorta "feel" if I can eat more.............there is this "feeling" like one more bite and your gonna PB........don't know how to explain it but I certainly do know when to stop..........sometimes I push it and pay for it though.

I get the hiccups but after it is to late. LOL. I wish I got them before like you Pam.

Candra I am six months out now and I think the last 6 weeks or so I just started to realize when to stop. I mean I just sorta have got the hang of it...........takes some practice I think and learning the signs and just knowing your body.........and I found the post op diet hard too.........I started salads way to soon I know that for sure...........I didn't do to well on mushies and softs......once you get a fill you will be good!! LOL. You just can't eat much even if you want to......

I was mad a few days ago cause I bought subway and only got 4 bites before the full hit.............I felt I wasted my money..............and I wanted more than that...........but I truly was full............head hunger. I ended up eating a few more bites for dinner and.........took me all day to eat a 6 inch...........maybe I should have given up............but I did eat it in a day.....before I could eat a foot long in 15 minutes.......

So the band does work even when it pisses me off it does...........LOL!! :-)

No more subway for me though. Waste of money I don't really have...........

I have to eat slow and pause between each bite..........that is the only way I stop in time. IF I get to talking to much or eat to fast............I PB every time.

What is really hard is eating out. Like last week I ate to many chips and salsa before my food came. I only took two bites and was done............my friends were like you don't like it........I did but I boxed it to take it home. Akward to sit there and not eat with food in front of you and people worry your not eating..............I try to remember to pace myself so we all get done the same time. Geez I didn't think the chips would fill me up..........wrong!! Really awkward moment.............since they don't know about my band!!

Anyone else have that............I couldn't even take tiny bites to try to fit in...........I was to close to a PB to chance it...........

learning new stuff all the time..........

HOpe you're right TIna - I see Doc Fisher next week so I hope he'll give me a fill even though I've only lost 10lbs. Broccoli just might be out for a while LOL. I didn't like that at all - not because it hurt or anything but Avacados are expensive hahahaha. What a waste!

I could've eaten a foot long in 10 minutes - got you beat!

This truly was the best decision of my life - I don't think about food 24/7 anymore like a use to - I sorta feel like for the first time I got a grip of my life and not just the food aspect of it. So thanks ladies for getting me here! So glad I listened to you all and didn't chicken out!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
