Hi all,

busy day yesterday. I had that party to go to and yesterday morning was time to assemble & decorate the cakes. I had a last minute request for coffee cake so I made a huge one of those yesterday morning.

Party went well - We did way too much though. We were told that there would be about 50 people but in actuality there were about 20! So tons of stuff left over - including the entire huge coffee cake!

No, Jes - I haven't eaten any cake. I still am not fully on full liquids yet either. I can't explain it but I just DON"T WANT TO EAT. Actually, there was a point last night, around 11:30, when all the guests were gone and just the drunk homies were still around - they ordered pizza and the smell was very overwhelming. That was the only time I really wanted to eat something - I finished cleaning up and left instead. My neighbor brought me over some home made chicken broth and I sipped on that - I was fabulous. What a difference home made broth makes - that boxed stuff sucks!

So, yesterday I weighed 195. today I weigh 197 - WTF!! All I had was my usual Protein shot for breakfast, Water & 1/2 C of cream of potato Soup & chicken broth. I only ate the soup because I knew I was going to be at this party for hours and was worried about any temptation. So I gained two pounds off cream of potato because that is the ONLY thing I've done differently. Damn carbs! I swear I'm allergic to them.

So after reading your post, April, I have decided to try to get on full liquids - worried though about gaining weight! - so I had 1/4 c cheddar cheese soup for lunch. It was what I had that had the least amount of carbs and cheese is more of a protein. Any protein suggestions for full liquids?

I'm rambling now....

ok afternoon check-in, I made THE most scrumptious homemade cream of chicken Soup possible. Candra if you go out tomorrow I'm bringing you some. It's perfect for full liquids.

I did my walk and then to target  cabin fever was getting to me. Had my tummy wrapped up and had a nice shower. I only look like I'm 4 months preggers now. I went ahead and changed my ticker since I'm down a couple lbs . Plus the the gas and everything else is coming out. All and all I feel good.

I had a swollen stomach for about 6 weeks ..........than it went down almost overnight. When the port stopped hurting the swelling went down. Darn port hurt for quite awhile. Now I can certainly fell it expecially when I bend over but it doesn't hurt anymore. I like knowing it is there.

I am still at work. This is so crazy but making up my time when I am out in Pinole this week.

I am packed up and down to 6 kids on my caseload from 52 two weeks ago. My supervisors office is literally piled with cases to close. We closed out almost 1000 kids in two weeks............sorta sad no one to watch these kids anymore. We had to just let everything go the last couple of week........some happy parents out there now that their cases are closed out.

I don't know, I just don't know how this is gonna work.....but I am OUTTA here I have been working for two days now to get everything done!!

I can relax the rest of the week!! I am in training Mon-Wed and than pinole on Thursday. Friday I move offices and I am done here :-)

Yep Jes feels good........only thing is if the board approved any funding on Tuesday (they are voting on Tuesday) than I will get my position taken away and I will go back to my original position...........but I don't think they will approve enought money to save my position.

I am planning to go to the new job unless I get another email moving me again.....LOL. Crazy county they did the reassignments before the budget was approved so they might have to take it all back this week and re assign!! LOL.

I sure don't want to give up my reassignement I am liking it...........but if they put me back to my original spot I would know what I am doing. I am thinking I don't want to go back though..........I think I would rather have the new assignment!! :-) Better fit and something new........

I think the new spot has better job security since they won't cut an emergency unit but next round of layoffs in January they could get my old position if they don't get it now.

So I still sorta waiting for the BOS to approve a final budget. But hey I figure I was reassigned so that might mean they already know CPS won't get addiction funding..............who knows!!

I'm totally off-diet today. I made waffles for breakfast, and now lasagna for dinner. I did get a small loaf of french bread though. The grocery store has these new tiny loaves for 2-3 people. Much better than a huge loaf. I've got a bit of diet fatigue right now. I'm so tired of everything I'm eating. At orientation they said the diet isn't meant for long term, I think that's because you can only eat certain things for so long!

Anyway, I'm not overdoing it just having a nice little tryst with carbs...

:smile:Hi Everyone

I am pretty new to this site; I joined a few weeks ago.

Jes, I've been reading your posts and you sound like you are doing great just a few days from surgery. I am inspired. It is great to hear you are feeling well and walking a lot. I thought you might feel really wiped out and weak after - especially with not being able to eat much. I am interested to learn how you get enough Protein when you are on liquids - the Soup broth doesn't sound like it would have much protein.

I am still nervous and haven't completely made up my mind. I just went to orientation a few weeks ago and started the 1200 Cal diet a week ago. (I had a really bad week at work after the orientation that included me needing to fire someone who was 68 and it just was really hard so I decided not to start until I had it behind me.) My husband went with me to orientation and I can tell he isn't sold on this. Also I was convinced I wanted lap band surgery because it is so much less invasive, but he thinks the RNY sounds better because it has been around longer and because it doesn't let you absorb all the cals/nutirents. It still freaks me out a bit. I'd be interested in hearing what all of you think. Why did you pick lap band over RNY? For those of you who have been post surgery for a while, do you really find you are not as hungry or does it just make you feel full faster? Sorry I just have a ton of questions as I try to figure out if this is right thing for me.

Also I'm looking for Riley4183 - you posted a response to my first post and since we are both in Sonoma Co. you said there was a Kaiser support group that meets in Santa Rosa. Is there a way we can email each other so I can get the info. (I know there is a way to do this via this site but I can't figure it out. BTW - I'm an Information Technology manager so that is pretty funny LOL!!).

Heather,

Hang in there - don't let the carbs get you! I know what you mean about getting sick of the same food, but I find the carbs are really dangerous for me. I just think I can't eat them - I really think I am a sugar/carb addict. Anyway hang in there and get back on the horse soon.

Hello Everyone!

Whew! Well the weekend is almost over. I am extremely tired. I hosted a baby shower for my one and only sister yesterday. It was fabulous! I can now return to focusing on myself and losing weight...So hard when planning a shower with 4 others.

I have an appt with Dr. Fisher on Wed. at 3:45pm. I am getting nervous..But excited still the same.

Question? What should I expect at this appt???

Hope all are well

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
