Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Recommended Posts

Hey, Christine - we all kinda figured he was so much more conservative by the amount of weight he makes us lose first. I had to lose more than 10% and Heather has to lose way way more than 10%. Happy that Baggs gave you back your fill!

Maria - whats going on??

Analynne - my doctor didnt touch me at all - no poking - Doc Fisher just asked which surgery I want, asked why then told me to lose more weight. - he set up the psyche appt, told me to email him when I hit goal and sent me on my way - was there all of 15 minutes.

Candra--Dr. Fisher was my original surgeon and gave me my goal weight too! I was 295 at orientation and he wanted me to be 270 for surgery, so 25 lbs...how much did you have to lose? I still can't believe how much Heather has had to lose, that seems NUTS to me! But you know what? She'll be totally ahead of the game before even getting a band and that's awesome! I actually lost more weight and lost it faster PRE-BAND doing the 1200 cal meal plan. They're onto something with that!

I am packing to leave tomorrow. So need to get outta here.......been working like crazy closing cases today. Went to BOS meeting today to hear all the budget talk..........final vote tomorrow.........upper management sold us out I guess I shouldn't be to shocked.........they say one thing to us another thing up front.......GRRR

So no news to report really. Waiting..........I didn't get a pink slip but I did get notification my position is on the list for deletion...........pink slips went out today and yesterday. They said 64......than 85..........now today they said 105 workers.............gone!!

So just waiting for the other shoe to drop I guess..........they have two weeks for people laid off to leave than they decide what happens to the rest of us.......I know even if I stay I get laid off..........

The county plans to lay off....get this........everyone!! They they will hire you back part time .......less benefits it you don't like it they said you can take the layoff and leave........

So who know........waiting. I will be off a few days I am outta town in the morning.....

oh the twist is if you accept the layoff they report you refused a job and you can't get unemployment.......

But it I take the job.....I will be .98 and you have to be 1.0 to get unemployment..........so either way the county ends up not having to put money towards unemployment and upper management is bragging about it..........annoying!!

Chris when is your appointment in Vacaville. I am pretty sure I am on that list too!!

It's the 9th I think, when is yours? It sounds like he'll be there on Fridays. It won't be group fills for me anymore though (I don't think) until after having the baby. Isn't that great that we won't have to pay bridge tolls and deal with the traffic and gas mileage? I'm SUPER happy about it!

I too have Dr Fisher. I was 255lbs and he told me to get to 225. That's 30lbs. I originally thought that was crazy because if I could do it...trust me I would... Who would have thought that even after a baby I was able to do it! I am now 220 and awaiting my surgery date. I think I can make it...even with all my issues.

John, have you gone to the support group at Sutter Roseville? I heard it's the 3rd Saturday of the month. Just curious if it's a good meeting.

Our Kaiser Point West (Arden) meeting is great, we have a fantastic clothing exchange each month and we separate into band/rny groups. That's the best part, talking with our banded buddies!

Never been to a support group meeting. Maybe the 26th will work. The clothing exchange sounds great, can’t wait to show up at work with a dress. JK

They had some mens clothes last month!

Monique- I can't believe he only made you lose 30! He's having me lose about 85 lbs before I can schedule surgery!

You guys will love this... This morning, my boyfriend comes out of the bathroom and says "The scale is broken, it's says way too low". I tried it myself, and it said I was 252. hahahahaha. Don't I wish! So I moved it to another spot on the floor, and it now says 279. Lots of curse words poured out. Wierd huh? Stupid scale giving me false pride!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
