Did someone say they had a CPAP? Liz told me they won't do the surgery unless I bring mine. I'm still at the stage of yanking mine off in the middle of the night. So I told her I sometimes freak with it and would not want to have a panic attack from the CPAP on top of the surgery but she wasn't buying it.

She also stood there with me just telling me slow down your fine, breathe slower......it helped she was a very good nurse!!

Just hush with Liz and bring it, Jes. I brought mine and I told Dr,. Baggs I had it, and all he said was "OK great, you can use that when you get home." Never touched it. Pain to pack it around, it is just a requirement and they never use them - just a hoop. Jump it it's an easy one!

Yup. Ah the infamous Richmond Kaiser Recovery Elephant! Most places just have a stuffed animal, at Richmond they got the real damned thing, lucky us :-)

Oh and the CPAP I only got 2 weeks before surgery so was TOTALLY not used to it yet, getting in maybe 3-4 hours a night with it on . . . . and I no longer need it, but I am totally addicted to it! I use it all night every night, get up to pee and put it back on when I go back to bed, it makes me go to sleep within a couple of minutes!!

Hiya ladies...

I had my CPAP, and brought it with me, but, I also stayed over night there, if I didnt have it, NO ONE would have slept, I would've rocked the hosp w/ my snoring! lolol So I would say bring it, just to be safe. I do have hopes of someday not needing it, but will take a lot to convince me after 16 yrs, BUT I have heard it being rid of after surgery!!!

Interesting topic Tina...The Invisible Elephant...hmmm...

See how good you are..trained eye to see things, and now YOU are seeing them AND dealing with them for a healthier you!!!! and me!!! hehehe

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
